TEST: BYD e6 [VIDEO] - Chinese electric car under a Czech magnifying glass

The German company Fenecon is trying to restore the BYD brand in the European market. He shared the BYD e6 electric car with the Czech portal FDrive, which tested it.

WORLD Bacteria e6 has an output of 80 kilowatt-hours (kWh), the maximum engine power is 121 horsepower (hp). Considering the weight of the car at 2,3 tons, it is not surprising that the manufacturer considers its vehicles primarily as electric taxis, that is, cars that move at a low speed.

Declared by the manufacturer BYD range e6 is 400 kilometers. EPA measurements show the figure 99 kilometers lower and 301 kilometers (last yellow stripe on the right):

The vehicle is equipped with a Mennekes charging port (type 2) without additional CCS contacts. Reporters managed to charge the car with 22 kilowatts (kW), but the manufacturer claims direct current charging is also possible, which charges the battery for two hours.

Interestingly, the car supports V2G technology, which means that it can return electricity to the grid. This allows you not only to power the house, but also to charge another electric vehicle!

BYD e6 interior: spacious but ugly

FDrive emphasizes the high position of the driver and the large interior space. The counter, located in the center of the dashboard, provides virtually all of the vehicle information you can ask for:

Unfortunately, the interior has to be made of hard, ugly plastic. It is difficult to judge from the photo whether this is really so.

BYD e6 price: it's not cheap!

Chinese BYD sells buses in Europe, but couldn't handle cars and left our market a few years ago. The company currently only accepts large orders for cars, in which Germany's Fenecon appears to be trying to mediate.

The car tested by Fdrive in the Czech Republic costs the equivalent of 213,7 thousand PLN net (260-270 thousand PLN gross). The reviewer compares it to the well-equipped BMW i3, which is available in the Czech Republic for PLN 164. With such a combination, the BYD e6 price is actually not that shocking.

However, our calculations show that even a basic Tesla Model 3 will be cheaper in Europe than a Chinese electrician:

BYD e6 itself can be confusing because the manufacturer currently does not have a service network for its vehicles in Europe. Electric cars fail quite rarely, but in the event of a serious breakdown, BYD e6 will leave its owner no choice but ... delivery in a container to China.
