How do I remember a Ducati Multistrado? Without a doubt, the most vividly imprinted in memory is a completely fresh engine. The Italians here must admit they know. The shade of red is also such that it steals the eyes of even those who do not have any emotions and sympathy for motorcycles and technology. It's also available in white, but red suits it damn well. One should not lose sight of the fact that the Ducati Multistrada is already largely far beyond the standard, and while there is no shortage of competition in this segment, it is vastly different. With the new package of improvements to almost all of the core components, this is also very convincing.

Let's not think that the Multistrada with a wide handlebar, enduro option in the engine layout and long suspension travel is a real adventurous bike that you can safely ride on rubble or dirt. Dozens do not have such a motorcycle, and we will not find anything similar and worthy of mention in its history. However, it entered the water of touring enduro motorcycles in the early XNUMXs. Remember Cagive Elephant? It was equipped with a Desmodromic Ducati and there are many enduro aficionados who think it is a unique machine. But back to Multistrada.

Let's start with the engine. DVT test! It's not revolutionary, but when this thing collapses, it looks like the two cylinders are capable of sucking all the air from the environment through their throats. No high tones, just bass. Compared to the previous one, thanks to the adjustable operation of the valves, he received ten "horsepower", and the torque is more evenly distributed over the entire speed range of the main shaft. The engine itself has added another five kilograms due to DVT, and as a result it is much more advanced, more efficient and at the same time more economical than the previous one. Independent variable valve operation is what this engine needs. It's true that this technology isn't exactly fresh in the motorcycle world, but it's also true that there are quite a few powerful and powerful bikes in this class.

With four different engine electronics programs, the Multistrada is almost everything in terms of drive. If you choose the Urban and Enduro program, about a hundred "horses" will be available, and 160 "horses" will be available in the Sport and Touring variants. By changing the selected engine electronics program, the driver also decides how active the intervention of the safety systems will be, none of which is missed. The anti-skid system, ABS (cornering ABS) and DWC (Ducati Wheelie Control) are active in all programs except Enduro, where DWC and ABS on the rear wheel are completely disabled. In fact, all engine and safety electronics factory programs are written or defined in a very practical and intelligent way, but it is still possible to pre-configure each of the programs according to your desires and discretion.

Perhaps someone who isn't new to taming so many cavalry will stink a bit due to the use of protective electronics, but the fact is that this is one that allows even less experienced drivers to drive this Ducati properly. If you think that this is not so much fun, then you are mistaken. The DWC system does not mean that the front wheel will not rise into the air, only the lower the setting, the later the electronics will return it back to the pavement. Fun and safe. And so-called Cornering ABS, where you manage to forget everything you've learned from years of cornering, is a great safety device that has taken the physical laws of motorcycles into completely different realms. Undoubtedly, this will prevent many falls. That said, ABS definitely, but I'd rather disable the swivel feature if possible. In order not to indulge myself, I realized on another motorcycle, and then drove it all into a ravine.

The test bike was actually a base model, but still not cheap. Understandably, the suspension and brake components are already top notch as standard, and this Ducati is pretty well equipped as well. If you want more, there are more expensive versions available, which include a color digital display, cornering headlights and active suspension. But while at first glance competition may seem more affordable with the same level of equipment, in reality the opposite is true.

The Multistrada is also a very remarkable motorcycle. The seat is high, but because it's flat, it doesn't cause problems even for smaller riders. Wind protection is present, manually adjustable, but in this class among the more modest, and due to the wide steering wheels, the driver's posture is even more open. The Ducati just blows. The tank has a small. Unlike the German-Japanese competition, you will not find any hooks, bedside tables or other mechanisms for tying sleeping bags, tents and other items on it. They just preferred the design. Almost every component of this engine seems to have been designed with the utmost care. The only harmful detail is the angular cat's eye on the front jaws. And yet it seems to him that he is only there because of the regulations. But it just sticks on and off so quickly.

Multistrada is a motorcycle for hedonists. For those who know how to appreciate first-class design, excellent mechanics and the latest technology. And also for those who love attention. Ladies just jump on it.

Is he the best in his class? He is definitely not on a trip with suitcases, a backpack and a passenger in the back seat. However, in life, all this “trash” can be left at home or sent by car to its destination. And when you're on a winding road, that's when the Multistrada is at its best.
