Test: Honda CBR 250 RA

All well and good, but he really doesn't deserve so much R in his name. Namely, R stands for racing, and there is probably no rider who doesn't know what CBR is. Sharpness, power, explosiveness, brutal braking and deep slopes. ... Let's be clear right from the start: You won't experience that with the CBR 250. So this Honda deserves the CBF name more than the CBR.

Why? Because it sits very comfortably, because the parts are not even racing, and because it would be classified no more than in the sports-touring program, but not in the racing program, in addition to the 600 and 1.000 cbm rockets. Leaving aside this stretch in the name, this is a product in place. It only sits leaning forward a little, so longer travel should be easy on the wrists and back. The seat is large, padded and close enough to the ground (780mm) for a beginner (or beginner!) To reach it easily. It has a well-stocked dashboard (clock, engine rpm, fuel level, engine temperature!), Good brakes and, we especially consider a plus, it is equipped with a connected C-ABS anti-lock braking system. Honda, bravo!

Don't expect miracles from a single-cylinder, four-stroke engine, but don't be lazy about a moped either: it pulls confidently up to a top speed of around 140 kilometers per hour (you can see it accelerate at full throttle here), and the gearbox is a joy to use. It doesn't really have sporty short strokes, but it's creamy smooth and reliably accurate. Driving is very easy thanks to the light weight, seat height and steering wheel turn, and if we compare (urban) usability with supercars like the old NSR or Aprilia RS and Cagiva Mito, this Honda has a clear advantage. In terms of maneuverability, almost like a scooter. One bottle will not drink more than four liters per hundred kilometers, at most half a liter less if you are not in a hurry.

The CBR 250 RA is the right choice for beginners, beginners and anyone legally allowed to have sufficient speed, value safety and low registration and maintenance costs. However, even in a dream, this will not be a four-stroke successor to the NSR 250 R model, which would destroy the knee sliders. We understand each other? Fine.

I have to admit that it has good handling, ABS brakes, pretty good looks and low fuel consumption. The driving position is also "digestible" for my height of 188 centimeters. However, given that the number is printed on the side

The 250 is suing the good old two-stroke engines that have achieved much more sportiness than this CBR.
