The British tested the real range of the 1st generation Nissan Leaf, Hyundai Ioniq Electric and Nissan Leaf (2018) in the form of a 724 kilometers race. The worst part was ... the new Leaf with the largest battery.

The goal of the race was to travel from the south to the north of Great Britain in the shortest possible time. The length of the route is 724 kilometers (450 miles), three cars took part in it:

  • Nissan Leaf 30 kWh,
  • Hyundai Ioniq Electric 28 kWh,
  • new Nissan Leaf 40 kWh.

During the ride, it turned out that the Hyundai Ioniq Electric can keep up with the new Leaf, although its battery capacity is 30 percent less and is ... the smallest in the race. How is this possible? All thanks to Hyundai's mysterious optimizations that have made the Ioniq Electric the world's most fuel-efficient electric vehicle to date.
