Test: Volkswagen Passat Alltrack 2.0 TDI 4MOTION BlueMotion Technology

On the one hand, with (m) o users; we, if we do not yet demand it, at least very much want universality.

Also or especially in cars, which are known to be the second largest purchase in a person's life.

On the other hand, there are car manufacturers. They all know this, at least most of them, and each offers its own vision of a universal product to those who are looking for a universal one. Not all of them, many want the exact opposite, that is, something very specific.

But if we put ourselves in the role of a versatile car manufacturer; how to set frames?

First, based on the fact that people in a car do not like to suffer, we will offer them a comfortable environment. First we'll create a space in which we could perfectly adjust the driving position, then make the seats comfortable even on long journeys (so as not to be too soft), add some lateral support that doesn't get in the way and give the seats a luxurious size. just in case, it's also a little wider, since it's not young drivers who are looking for versatility, but more mature people. We will take care of ergonomics and every little detail.

Secondly, for the same reason, we would offer people devices that must be good enough not to be noticed at all. For example, an air conditioner that sprinkles windows quickly enough on wet days quickly cools the interior on hot days, but does not overcool the living contents, in short, so that the controls do not interfere with every small change in the room. street climate. The sensors must be large enough to be easily and clearly read. The trip computer will be equipped with a lot of data, but it will also have simple and efficient control and appropriate presentation of information so that it does not interfere. Since we know that we often drive even at night, we would give enough light into the cabin: at least four reading lamps, two for the lower section of the driver and front passenger, and one for the trunk. We will take care of ergonomics and every little detail.

Third, if you are planning a car for five people, you would give enough space for five people, even if they are all adults and are in all five locations. No compromises.

Fourth, since people in the car love to listen to all sorts of things, from reports to music and the like, we'll give them an audio system that wouldn't otherwise have a big name, but powerful enough to play any kind of music properly. by special airmail El Fitzgerald. In addition, they will be equipped with good navigation on the same large touchscreen that will know more than most users will ask. Obviously, security would add Bluetooth to this system for secure telephony.

Fifth, in order to satisfy their desire to travel, we will give them a place to store their things. For small things, we would put some useful boxes around the cabin, the ones in the doors, for example, would be lined with felt so that the objects in them would not (loudly) slide back and forth, and, in addition, they would be made so large that they hold a lot of bottles. We know people get thirsty along the way, and we know to put things in the car. The front passenger compartment will have the option of blocking, lighting and cooling. We would dedicate four good places to banks. Then there are big things. In fact, we dedicate a huge trunk to them, which can then be expanded by a third - either from the seat or from the trunk using an additional lever. As a result, the enlarged surface will be almost horizontal, and for those who would like to be completely horizontal, it will also be possible to raise part of the seat, so that the reclining back is then truly horizontal. Just in case, we would offer them some smaller boxes or slots in the trunk.

Sixth, since people today are very sensitive to safety, they will not only provide standard safety equipment, but also upgrade it with Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, Intelligent Cruise Control that can brake to a stop. , and an emergency braking system, but it is clear that our car will also have a parking assistance system with audio and video display, efficient wipers, excellent headlights and a non-linear speedometer scale, as well as the ability to accurately digital display the current speed.

Seventh, to make driving easier, mechanics must be equipped with appropriate controls, i.e. a good steering system, a good gear lever and good pedals. Of course, the mechanics would also be very good: for example, the chassis would be stiff enough to move on transverse slopes, but comfortable enough to overcome potholes and bumps, while remaining reliable and predictable up to maximum speeds. The engine will be turbodiesel because it offers plenty of torque in the low and mid-range, plus it makes enough power to drive fast, and it can also be fuel efficient. At a speed of 60 kilometers per hour, it should not consume more than five, 100 - no more than 5,7, 130 - no more than eight and 160 - no more than 9,6 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers. The gearbox would be such that it would automatically satisfy leisurely drivers, and with a manual mode, as well as a sports program and steering wheel levers, would appeal to more dynamic drivers. The drive will be all-wheel drive, and it will turn on itself if necessary so that the car does not consume too much fuel. Just in case, let's raise the car a bit so that it doesn't get stuck when my family and I go hiking in nature and into the unknown.

The plan is great, but it only has one flaw: someone made it before us. Volkswagen with Passat Alltrack. It is possible that there is currently no much better universal matter.

Overall rating (355/420)

  • People don't buy Alltrack just like that, just in case; there must be a pretty good reason for that. However, it is almost as mundane as a regular Passat, and in the end, it is not that much more expensive when you compare them to the same equipment. If you find yourself in mud or snow a lot, consider this. In classes, he approached the top five in hair.

  • Exterior (13/15)

A discreet climb in a soft SUV.

  • Interior (112/140)

Exceptional spaciousness, great seats, perfect detailing, flexible trunk, plenty of room for little things ...

  • Engine, transmission (55

    / 40)

A very good engine, capable of both off-road and dynamic off-road driving. Excellent gearbox.

  • Driving performance (62

    / 95)

Universal type: on the road only slightly worse than on the Passat, and boldly better off-road. Also great for rubble.

  • Performance (27/35)

A very dynamic type, although its strength decreases after several higher loads.

  • Security (40/45)

An exemplary package for all security zones.

  • Economy (46/50)

It may be moderate in terms of consumption, but the price is already quite far from the "people's car".
