Fuel filter and pump Nissan Almera Classic

The duration of operation of the Almera Classic fuel system depends on the quality of gasoline and mileage. The replacement of the fuel pump and filter must be carried out at the scheduled time and in the correct sequence. Which filter and pump should be used for replacement, what is the maintenance procedure and frequency?

Signs of a clogged fuel filter

A clogged fuel filter negatively affects the operation of the internal combustion engine, so it is necessary to determine the moment of its replacement in time. Signs of a clogged fuel filter:

  • Reduced engine traction. In this case, periodic power failures and their recovery can be observed.
  • Unstable engine idling.
  • Incorrect reaction of the accelerator pedal, especially when starting the car.
  • Increased fuel consumption.
  • When shifting to neutral at high speed, the engine stalls.
  • Climbing slopes is difficult, as the required speed is not developed.

If the above problems occur, it is recommended to replace the Nissan Almera Classic fuel filter.

How often to change the fuel filter and pump on the Almera Classic

According to the factory recommendations for the operation and maintenance of Almera Classic, there is no specific interval for replacing the fuel filter. Its resource is designed for the entire service life of the fuel pump, which changes with a run of one hundred to two hundred thousand kilometers. The fuel filter and pump are replaced as an assembly.

When carrying out self-maintenance of the fuel system, when the filter element is replaced separately, it should be replaced at an interval of 45-000 km.

Which fuel filter should you choose?

The Almera Classic fuel supply complex provides for the installation of an integral module consisting of a gasoline pump and a fine and coarse filter element. It is installed directly on the gas tank.

The Almera Classic module can be replaced with an original spare part under the article 1704095F0B or with one of the analogues. These include:

  • Cross-KN17-03055;
  • Ruey-2457;
  • AS details — ASP2457.

Replacing the entire module is expensive. Due to this, the owners of Almera Classic independently update the design, which allows you to change components individually.

As a new fuel pump, you can use the original Hyundai (article 07040709) or an alternative Bosch fuel pump from VAZ 2110-2112 (article 0580453453).

The fine filter switches to the following analog components:

  • Hyundai/Kia-319112D000;
  • SKT 2.8 — ST399;
  • Japanese parts 2.2 - FCH22S.

To replace the coarse filter in the modernized Almera Classic gasoline supply complex, you can use:

  • KR1111F-Krauf;
  • 3109025000 — Hyundai / Kia;
  • 1118-1139200 - LADA (for VAZ 2110-2112 models).

Detailed description of replacing the fuel filter and fuel pump

Replacing the fuel pump and filter with Almera Classic must be carried out in the sequence that will be discussed in detail below. The work will be carried out in three stages: extraction, dismantling and reinstallation.

Necessary parts and tools

The fuel pump and filter components are replaced using the following tool:

  • fuel cock
  • box and ring wrench set
  • pliers
  • Phillips screwdriver and flat blade.

It is also necessary to prepare spare parts:

  • coarse and fine filter
  • fuel pump
  • fuel tank hatch gasket - 17342-95F0A
  • hoses resistant to oil and gasoline, as well as clamps for fixing them
  • rag
  • solvent
  • a container for receiving residual gasoline from the system.

Filter elements and fuel pump are selected according to the article numbers presented above.

Removing the fuel module

Before you disassemble the fuel module from Almera Classic, you need to completely relieve the pressure of gasoline in the machine's system. To do this, repeat the following procedure three times at intervals of a few minutes:

  1. Remove the fuse from the internal mounting block that is responsible for the fuel pump;
  2. Start the Nissan Almera Classic engine;
  3. Wait until the engine stops.

In the future, you will need to go to the salon and perform the following steps:

  1. Fold down the bottom of the rear sofa;
  2. Clean the manhole cover and the area around it from dirt and dust;
  3. Disassemble the hatch cover by unscrewing the fasteners;
  4. Disconnect the fuel pump power cable;
  5. Start the engine, wait for it to stop;
  6. Replace the canister, loosen the fuel hose clamp, remove the hose and lower it into the canister. Wait until the rest of the gasoline drains.

Now you can proceed directly to the disassembly of the fuel module.

  1. Unscrew the retaining ring from the module with the handles of the gas wrench. It is necessary to support them against special plastic protrusions, applying a counterclockwise force;
  2. Carefully remove the module so as not to damage the float of the fuel level sensor

We disassemble

We began to disassemble the Almera Classic fuel module. It is recommended to follow the following sequence of actions:

  1. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry out the three plastic latches to disassemble the bottom case;
  2. The power cable is disconnected from the fuel gauge;
  3. Holding three clamps, the pump and filter elements are removed from the Almera Classic;
  4. After loosening the clamp, the pressure sensor is disconnected;
  5. Wipe the inside of the case with a rag soaked in solvent;
  6. The condition of the fuel pump, coarse and fine filters is assessed. The first is located at the bottom of the device and can be removed manually. The second is fixed with plastic latches, which must be pressed out with a flat screwdriver;
  7. Compare prepared parts by size;
  8. All sealing gums are removed from the fine filter.

Installation of a new fuel pump, filters and assembly

The assembly process of the Almera Classic fuel supply system begins with the installation of gaskets on the fine filter. Then:

  • A fuel pump and a fine filter element are installed on its seat;
  • Depending on the coarse filter, installation may be difficult. They are due to the presence of two plastic protrusions that prevent the element from being fixed on the fuel pump. Therefore, you will need to sand them with a file;

  • A suitable tube will need to be cut into the pressure sensor by cutting off the curved part;
  • When installing the pressure sensor on the seat, it will be necessary to break part of the fuel receiver body, which will interfere with installation;
  • With a hose resistant to oil and gasoline, we connect the previously sawn off parts of the fuel pressure tube. In this case, it is necessary to fix both ends of the hose with clamps. The sensor is attached with a native clamp;
  • We install the lower part of the fuel module in its place, having previously lubricated the fuel supply pipe. This will allow you to fit the tube to the rubber bands without undue resistance.

It remains to install the module on the seat in reverse order. At the same time, do not close the hatch cover until the fuel system is checked. To do this, start the engine and, if everything is in order, turn off the engine and screw the plug back into place.

Conclusion

The fuel filter and pump Almera Classic should be changed at the first sign of clogging. This will prevent serious engine problems. The manufacturer provides for a complete replacement of the fuel module. To save money, you can upgrade the fuel pump wiring and filter elements to change parts separately.
