2022 Toyota RAV4 takes on Mazda CX-5, Nissan X-Trail, Hyundai Tucson and Mitsubishi Outlander with new XSE sport package: pricing and features details
XSE is the new sporty version of the RAV4.
Toyota Australia has removed one variant but added three, including the new XSE sport package, to the top-selling RAV4 lineup as part of the MY22 update due in the first quarter of next year for the fifth-generation midsize SUV.
The RAV4 is now available in five trim levels, with the new XSE sitting in between the entry-level GX and GXL and the flagship Cruiser and Edge (see pricing table below).
Due to low demand, the six-speed manual transmission is no longer available with the 4kW/127Nm 203L naturally aspirated RAV2.0 petrol four-cylinder engine in the FWD GX, and now exclusively paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) at a price from $34,300. plus travel expenses (-$395).
Meanwhile, the XSE is equipped with either an all-wheel-drive 160-kilowatt all-wheel-drive powertrain of a mid-size SUV ($42,825) or a 163-kilowatt all-wheel drive ($45,825) self-charging parallel hybrid powertrain with an electronic CVT.
Helping the XSE rise above the GXL are black exterior trim, black roof, power liftgate, wireless smartphone charger, 7.0-inch multifunction display, two-stage heated front seats, 10-way power driver's seat, Softex upholstery, black headlining and ambient lighting.
The Edge is now available with an AWD hybrid powertrain ($52,320, +$152) as well as the existing 243kW/2.5Nm 49,820L naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine with eight-speed automatic torque converter ($905, +$XNUMX) .
In terms of standard equipment, LED fog lamps have been introduced across the range, while all hybrid variants now receive projector LED headlights, and an idle stop system has been included on petrol versions.
While the petrol Cruiser does not have the new alloy wheel design, the GX now has light gray 17s, while the 18s are fitted to the GXL (dark silver), XSE (glossy black) and Cruiser Hybrid (glossy -black), as well as on the Edge. (matte grey) has 19s.
