Triumph Street Twin and Triumph Street Scrambler - Road Test

We tried two entry-level lines from the modern classic line that share many technical details but differ in driving position and intended use.

In the memorable setting of Oltrepò Pavese, where a new one will begin in a few weeks. Triumph Adventure Experience – the first school dedicated to off-road driving, as well as a direct branch of the academy of the same name in South Wales – I tried two models of articulated Triumph Modern Classic 2019 line.

Specifically, I focused on the two starting levels of the family: Street Twin and the Street Scrambler, two bicycles that have a lot in common in technique and content, but differ slightly from each other in terms of riding position, customization and (if you prefer) also intended use.

Triumph Street Twin, economical on price only

Despite the fact that it is the cheapest of the range, Twin Street (from 8.900 euros) – a bike with a very good finish, like all Triumphs. She is slender, short, compact and light. Does not cause discomfort, ideal for those who have little Experience (they put their feet on the ground with particular ease), but thanks to the updated twin-cylinder engine, it can also satisfy the needs of the most experienced riders who are looking for an elegant, classic, stylish bike that does not require a “shot”. “.

Now the twin gives 900 см able to provide power 65 CV (an increase of 18% over the previous model) and 80 Nm of torque, which is fun and with good midrange gains; however, this does not exempt from vibrations... Braking is fast and aggressive thanks to the new Brembo four-piston caliper, and the combination of a five-speed gearbox and a torque booster clutch works great: the lever is soft and the transition from one gear ratio to the next is quick and accurate. ...

The plug cartridges are also new, designed to improve comfortwhile the position for the driver is slightly weighted forward due to the handlebars being quite far from the seat. Just a gift with ride the wires with road and rain map, ABS and traction control, USB connector and LED headlights. The customization options are, of course, extensive.

 Triumph Street Scrambler

Instead, it is less classical and more dedicated to off-road to light Street scrambler (from € 10.800). On the other hand, just look for spoked circles with19 inch front and Metzeler Tourance twin tires (standard) to show that this bike is not only about asphalt. The engine is the same as the Street Twin, but there are, for example, more front footpegs and taller and wider handlebars to make it easier to drive even while standing.

Face to face dirt roadstherefore it is a real pleasure. But even on the road (where the driver's position is also more comfortable than the Street Twin), although the suspension is a little softer, it can be fun. Chassis and suspension have been slightly redesigned, the fork provides more spaced stems for off-road riding, while the dual high-exhaust tailpipe remains distinctive and distinctive, which is absolutely not a concern. In short, the Scrambler is more complete, versatile and eclectic.

The difference between them is about 2.000 euros, and I believe that the choice depends not only on aesthetic taste (because, besides all considerations, it is always the first variable when choosing a car), but above all on the destination. And if you like them encoder but you want an off-road bike (really) there's always a 1200 XE ...
