bender

benderThe pipe bender is a pipe bender specially designed for bending pipes. A pipeline is a pipe through which electrical wires are laid.
benderPiping should only be bent before use. It must not be bent if it already contains wires or cables, as this may damage them.
benderThe conduit bender is used on the ground with the user's foot and the floor as leverage to bend the pipe.
benderThe tool handle is available in lengths from 965mm (38") to 1371mm (54").

The longer handle gives the user more leverage, which is useful when bending tubing made from stronger materials such as steel.

benderThe tool can also be used in a vertical position by manually bending the pipe around the template.

This method is best used with copper conduit, which is much easier to bend and requires less force than steel conduit.

benderThere are two other types of pipe benders specifically designed for pipe bending, however these are not currently available in the UK.

Hickey Bender

The first of these is the hickey bender. It has a similar design to a pipe bender but has a hook end instead of a shaper. The hook is used to create much smaller radius bends, which might be needed at the back of a refrigerator, for example, and it takes several moves to create this bend.

It can bend pipeline from pipe diameter from 12.7mm (0.5″) to 25.4mm (1″).

Mechanical pipe bender

Another type of bending machine is the mechanical bending machine. This is a small improvement over the manual double bender as it still requires manual effort from the user to bend the pipe.

The bender, however, is mounted on a set of small wheels with a handle, making it easy to move the tool around. This can be useful in large job sites.

Pipe bender dimensions

benderThe pipe size is measured by the outside diameter of the pipe.
benderThe conduit bender is available with formers for 20 mm (0.7 in.) and 25 mm (0.9 in.) tubes. These are the most common pipe sizes.
