Step 1: assemble the car
Jack up the front wheels of the vehicle until they are off the ground and place jacks to secure them. This gives you access to the connecting rods, which are located under the engine, between the passenger compartment and the gearbox.
Step 2: Disassemble the transmission
Remove the rods with a wrench: usually one to three. Inside the car, remove the gear lever cover, as well as the lower one. This frees up access to the cables that are clamped to the gear lever bracket. Remove the assembly and the arm and support held by four screws.
Step 3: install a new rod
Once the gear lever is removed, you can replace it. However, be careful with cables as they are not interchangeable. Reassemble in the reverse order, remembering to change the connecting rods.
