We remove water from the gas tank with a bbf remover

How does moisture get into the fuel tank and what does it threaten?

There are only two main ways for moisture to enter the fuel tank.

  1. Along with fuel. Today, the percentage of water in gasoline or diesel fuel is strictly controlled. Sampling for moisture content from storage at filling stations should be done at every refill from a tanker truck. However, this rule is often violated, especially at peripheral filling stations. And fuel with an unacceptably high water content is drained into the tanks, which subsequently enters the car tank.
  2. From atmospheric air. Moisture enters together with air (mainly during refueling) into the volume of the fuel tank. To a lesser extent, it penetrates through the valve in the plug. After moisture condenses on the walls of the tank in the form of drops and flows into the fuel. In a similar way, according to various estimates, from 20 to 50 ml of water accumulates at the bottom of the gas tank per year under normal operating conditions of the car.

Water is much heavier than fuel and therefore settles to the bottom of the tank. Even with vigorous stirring, the water precipitates again in a few seconds. This fact allows moisture to accumulate up to a certain limit. That is, water is practically not removed from the tank, since it is isolated under a layer of gasoline or diesel. And the fuel pump intake does not sink to the very bottom, so up to a certain amount, moisture is just ballast.

The situation changes when water accumulates enough to be captured by the fuel pump. This is where the problems begin.

First, water is highly corrosive. Metal, aluminum and copper parts begin to oxidize under its influence. Especially dangerous is the impact of water on modern power systems (Common Rail, pump injectors, gasoline direct injection).

Secondly, moisture can settle in the fuel filter and lines. And at negative temperatures, it will definitely freeze, partially or completely cutting off the fuel flow. The engine will at least start to run intermittently. And in some cases, the motor completely fails.

How does the BBF dehumidifier work?

Special fuel additive BBF is designed to remove moisture from the gas tank. Available in a container of 325 ml. One bottle is designed for 40-60 liters of fuel. On sale there are separate additives for diesel and gasoline power systems.

It is recommended to pour the additive into an almost empty tank before refueling. After adding the BBF composition, you need to fill in a full tank of gasoline, and it is advisable to roll it out without refueling until it is almost completely empty.

The BBF remover contains complex polyhydric alcohols that attract moisture to themselves. The total density of the newly formed compound (water and alcohols do not create a new substance, but only bind at the structural level) is approximately equal to the density of gasoline. Therefore, these compounds are in suspension and are gradually sucked in by the pump and fed into the cylinders, where they successfully burn out.

One bottle of BBF fuel additive is enough to remove approximately 40-50 ml of water from the gas tank. Therefore, in regions with a humid climate or suspicious fuel quality, it is recommended to use it prophylactically at every second or third refueling. Under normal conditions, one bottle per year is enough.
