Installing a tachograph and a speed sensor on a MAZ

MAZ is one of the vehicles that the legislator may require to be equipped with a tachograph. If such a need arose, it is necessary to take into account one important feature of these cars. First of all, when inspecting a vehicle, pay attention to the speedometer and speed sensor. If the speedometer is old mechanical with a cable, it will need to be replaced and an additional speed sensor installed.
Change the sensor
In extreme cases, you can of course use a pitch sensor for MAZ, but it's better to avoid it anyway.
A good option is to find and buy a sensor made in the form of a mini-generator with a motor. The device can change the voltage depending on the speed, which is very useful. However, no matter which sensor you choose, you will need a special adapter to install it; buy at a car dealership or sand it yourself as you like.
Replacement methods
So, a new speedometer and dashboard are bought and even installed on your car. Now it's time to proceed directly to its installation and installation of the tachograph. Everything is done very simply, the old speed sensor is simply unscrewed and a new one is put in its place. The same goes for the speedometer.
Installation of the tachograph
Tachograph mounting methods differ significantly depending on the brand of the car. If you are not a specialist, it is better, of course, not to install the device yourself, but to entrust the process to professionals. However, if you are 100% confident in your abilities, you need to get cards to install the device on your car. Try to search the Internet or convince the employees of an authorized tachograph installation center to share information. If you manage to draw cards, the rest is a matter of technique.
Checking the installation
If the installation of the tachograph was successful, then it must first be turned on, and each button must strictly perform its function. When you turn on the headlights, the brightness of the screen should turn off. After that, be sure to check on a small section of the road the correct operation of the tachograph and mileage calculation.
If everything is in order, then only the last procedure remains. Drive your MAZ to a specialized technical center to calibrate the device and obtain all permits for it.
Usually the procedure takes no more than a day, and the next day the car will be completely ready for work. And even during subsequent operation, pay attention to the integrity of all seals so that you are not suspected of winding the device and fined.
