In 2019, the largest energy storage unit with a capacity of 27 kWh will be built in Poland.
In the second half of 2019, Energa Group will launch an energy storage unit with a capacity of 27 MWh. The largest warehouse in Poland will be located at the Bystra wind farm near Pruszcz Gdański. It will be located in a hall with an area of about 1 square meters.
The warehouse will be built using hybrid technology, that is, lithium-ion and lead-acid batteries will be used. The total capacity of the warehouse is 27 MWh, the maximum capacity is 6 MW. This will help to check the protection of transmission and distribution networks against overloads and will reduce the maximum and minimum energy requirements.
> Charging 30… 60 kW at home ?! Zapinamo: YES, we use energy storage
The construction of the energy storage facility by the Energa Group is one of the results of a larger Smart Grid demonstration project in Poland, in which Energa Wytwarzanie, Energa Operator, Polskie Sieci Elektroenergetyczne and Hitachi are participating.
Today, energy storage is considered a promising solution that reduces carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere and reduces the cost of electricity generation. Today, power plants are built in such a way as to meet the needs of the country as much as possible - we rarely do this.
