Although they banned smoking at all stations in the country last April, the Dutch authorities have embarked on an ambitious plan to refurbish old ashtrays. Having become unnecessary with the new regulations, they are gradually being replaced by electric bike charging stations.

Provided by Amsterdam-based Lightwell, these charging stations should allow users to charge their electric bikes while they wait for the next train. In practice, each terminal can simultaneously power two e-bikes.
