Test Drive

In short: Adria Matrix Supreme M 667 SPS.

The Adria Matrix Supreme is representative of this type of motorhome, offering an excellent compromise between comfort, performance and, above all, ease of use. It comes from a hugely popular family of poly-integrated motorhomes, where Adria from Novo Mesto has marked her way with an innovative bed placement that falls from the ceiling when it's time to rest but doesn't obstruct passage through the front door. .

While the smaller and cheaper Matrix Axess and Matrix Plus are based on the Fiat Ducat, the Matrix Supreme is based on the Renault Master chassis. Given that the Renault van is extremely popular in its class, it is no coincidence that the Matrix Supreme immediately impresses in front of a motorhome of this size with its extremely precise handling, comfort and handling.

The engine is great, powerful and with good torque, and the six-speed gearbox also helps it cover distances. Flexible "turbodiesel" Renault with a working volume of 2.298 cubic centimeters is capable of developing 150 "horsepower" and 350 Nm of torque at 1.500-2.750 rpm. Considering the impressive weight of the 7,5-meter RV, which weighs 3.137 kg empty, it is difficult for consumption to fall below 10 liters per 100 kilometers. This is only possible with very smooth and smooth driving on country roads. On the highway, at a speed of 110 to 120 km / h, it immediately jumps to 11 and a half liters, but with an increase in speed, the consumption jumps up sharply and with a slightly stronger acceleration, it also reaches 15 liters.

Thanks to a good chassis and thoughtful aerodynamic upgrade, the Matrix Supreme is not overly sensitive to crosswinds. We recommend it to everyone who intends to go further, precisely because of fuel consumption and driving, as long trips with it are a real pleasure. Thanks to the hot water heating system, it can be used all year round.

Comfortable seating and space for the driver and front passenger also provide a high level of comfort. Less comfortable are the passenger seats, where we find two-point seat belts that are more than non-emergency but would really impress us with the Isofix bindings.

The living area is designed so that both front seats, at stops, are pivoted to the side of a table surrounded by an L-shaped bench using a simple lever.

The kitchen, with a gas hob and three burners, is large enough to make a good hostess feel almost at home. The oven is gas and takes some getting used to, otherwise the counter is large enough for small kitchen tasks. The sink and faucet are large enough to wash a large pot in. The 150-liter gas and electricity fridge can store everything your family needs for a few days of travel.

But what's most impressive about the Matrix Supreme is tucked away in the back, where the bathroom and toilet are. There is no need to talk about such comfort as at home, but the size of the shower cabin can already compete with those in hotels or vacation apartments.

The headboard looks like a luxury hotel room, as there is a large French balcony-style window on the left-hand side, offering great views of the surrounding area. If you find a beautiful place to spend the night, waking up with a sea view or some other beautiful view will be a real romantic experience. Both the front lift bed and the rear bed ensure a comfortable sleep as the mattresses are of good quality.

There are better internal wardrobe layouts for a large family, but given that the Matrix Supreme is for anyone looking for luxury, it is more than enough for two adults, we can still talk about exceptional comfort for four adults, and for more passengers we recommend another mobile home that is more family-friendly.

At €71.592 for the test model, we can't say it's affordable, but we can say it's definitely the best buy in its class. The base Matrix Supreme with the weaker 125-horsepower engine costs just under $62, and with the more powerful engine it costs just under $64.

In its most luxurious version, the Matrix Supreme will satisfy even the most demanding traveler without compromise. In terms of looks, driving characteristics and usability, this is something the best that the caravanning industry has to offer.
