Attention!!! New tinting law effective July 1, 2012

All motorists are well aware that at the moment the operation of a car with tinted windshield and front side windows is prohibited if the light transmission of the windshield is less than 75%, and the front side windows are less than 70 percent. For violation of these operating rules, a fine of 500 rubles could be imposed on the driver, and for many, the removal of tinting immediately after the protocol was drawn up.

To put it mildly, a fine of 500 rubles did not stop all lovers of “dark” driving, and many continued to drive their cars with prohibited tinting. Someone hoped just in case that they would not catch the eye of traffic police officers, but for someone these 500 rubles are a penny, so they continued to break the law.

But tinted cars will not go long on Russian roads, one might even say they have already skated. Indeed, from July 1, 2012, a new law on tinted glass of cars, or rather an amendment, comes into force, and now drivers will be punished much more severely than before. Now, if the tinting of your car does not comply with the standards of GOST No. 5727-88, then in addition to the previous fine of 500 rubles, traffic police officers have the right to remove license plates from your vehicle and send you to the nearest car service to remove tinting or replace glass, if removal of the darkened coating is not possible. After the requirements of the traffic police officers are met and the tinting of your car meets the standards or it will not be at all, you can get your license plates back.

Recall that these requirements apply only to the windshield and front side windows of the car, while the rear of the car, as before, remains “outlawed”, that is, you can even paint over it with black paint. You should also not forget that mirror tinting is also prohibited, so there is less and less chance to hope that it will work with traffic police officers. It is better to make high-quality tinting according to GOST, and enjoy driving your car without any problems.
