US military wants to scan faces

The US military wants their soldiers to be able to scan faces and read fingerprints using smartphones. The system will be called Smart Mobile Identity System.

Technologies and applications of this type are ordered by the Pentagon from California-based technology company AOptix. She has long been working on solutions that will allow people to be identified by facial features, eyes, voice and fingerprints.

According to preliminary data, the device, ordered by the military, should be small in size, allowing it to be connected to a phone connected to the Internet. It is also expected to include face scan from a greater distance, and not only through direct contact with an identified person.
