The Russian developers received an order for this multi-purpose machine from the Emirates, which allocated a significant amount of $ 60 million for its development.

Although the first prototypes presented at the International Defense Exhibition in Abu Dhabi were to the taste of the customer, the contract with the designers was terminated.

However, the qualities of the "Tigers" were highly appreciated by the Ministry of Defense, whose interest led to the fact that off-road vehicles went into mass production at the Arzamas Machine-Building Plant.

An interesting Ukrainian development, which was released in 2009. It was not accepted for military service, although it had excellent characteristics: a weight of 5,5 tons, a 176-horsepower turbodiesel engine from the world famous manufacturer Iveco, a capacity of 5 people, an anti-mine bottom.

In addition, the developers presented a three-piece design, each of which was independently attached to the chassis. The idea was to at least partially save the car in the event of an accident at the mine.

In 2009, the car was presented to the general public at the Independence Day parade in Kyiv, after which three copies were made, and then the project was frozen.

IVECO LMV

The conflict in the Balkans in the 1990s gave impetus to work on all-terrain vehicles and armored vehicles of all kinds. During the war, many machines were tested, which made it possible to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of various machines.

In the case of Iveco, excellent mine resistance, impenetrability against small arms fire of 5,56 and 7,62 mm caliber and protection against heavy machine guns were provided at the design stage thanks to mounted passive armor modules.

Unlike its off-road counterpart, the car received light but durable armor with enhanced ballistic and mine protection. The independent adaptive suspension allows the driver to automatically or manually adjust the ride height up to a distance of half a meter.

In the 4-seat version, the car weighs just over six tons and houses a 6,6-liter V8 diesel engine from General Motors.

A hybrid configuration with electric units and a 300-horsepower diesel unit is also possible. Both engines are paired with an automatic transmission capable of accelerating the SUV to 110 km/h. Economical and reliable engines allow the car to travel about 500 km on one gas station.

Finally, the car immediately received 2 levels of protection: level "A", consisting of basic armor, and level "B" with enhanced protection.

Renault Sherpa

Developed for the military, the vehicle has repeatedly taken part in the Dakar Rally and the extreme cross-field rally of over 30 miles.

The tactical model has occupied the empty space between classic SUVs and full-fledged military trucks.

A high ground clearance of 600mm with a 60-degree approach angle provides good flotation and ability to climb 45-degree hills, as well as navigation through 750mm-deep waterways.

The manufacturer's largest all-terrain vehicle to date, the heavy-duty Toyota Mega Cruiser is designed to carry personnel or wounded soldiers, patrol difficult terrain, and even carry field artillery and compact air defense systems.

The design of the model is based on a spar frame, and many key parts were borrowed from earlier cars, including a turbodiesel, a 4-speed automatic transmission from the Land Cruiser 80 and a steering wheel from the Toyota Carina.

But in terms of comfort, the Chinese version is much superior to its ascetic American “colleague”, equipped with air conditioning, GPS, night vision system and radio communication.

In addition, it can be equipped with several types of weapons: a machine gun, a grenade launcher, and even an anti-tank missile system.

Despite the fact that Chinese manufacturers cannot boast of great experience in the production of military equipment, the resulting car is no different from other representatives of all-terrain vehicles.

However, it clearly wins on price, especially when compared to the iconic Hummer. As a result, in the 2000s, all-terrain vehicles, mainly in armored versions, were available to the marines, rapid reaction units, artillery and engineering troops of the PLA.
