All season tires. For whom is it better? Advantages and disadvantages of all-season tires
If something is for everything, isn't it good for anything? Or maybe in the case of tires it is advantageous to choose a universal product for “all” weather? Due to the frequently changing weather conditions in our country, many drivers will decide to purchase approved all-season tires.
– Drivers often emphasize that all-season tires save on seasonal spacers. True, but that's only one side of the coin. First of all, a visit to the mechanic when changing tires allows you to diagnose malfunctions in the wheels or in the suspension - this is very important, because tires undergo numerous damages while driving. Secondly, we will quickly spend the saved money on ... another set of tires. Why? One of the disadvantages of all-season tires is that they wear out faster - we ride them all year round, and in summer, at higher temperatures, they wear out faster because they have a softer compound than summer tires. Although, of course, they are not as soft as winter tires,” notes Piotr Sarnecki, general director of the Polish Tire Industry Association (PZPO).
Longer and better motorways and expressways also do not benefit drivers choosing all-season tires - our speed increases and our mileage increases. Drivers who switch from seasonal tires to all-season tires will certainly feel the difference in traction and tire wear at higher speeds. Therefore, it may turn out that after 2 years such tires will have to be disposed of due to insufficient tread depth.

– Of course, not everyone drives motorways in the summer for holidays or winter holidays, so for a certain group of drivers this is a good product. If someone moves mainly around the city, in a smaller car, drives quietly - with a mileage of less than 10 kilometers a year, you should think about buying a year-round kit, but only from a well-known brand. However, such a driver must remember that these tires do not provide excellent traction in all conditions, adds Sarnecki.
Therefore, it is worth consulting a trusted tire shop or buying all-season tires - a good idea for our driving style and car. You should also make sure that the manufacturer really indicates this tire model as all-season - they must have a tolerance for winter conditions, marked with a snowflake symbol against a mountain.
ADVANTAGES all season tires:
allow you to be prepared for sudden changes in temperature or unforeseen precipitation;
no need for seasonal replacement.

worse performance in typical summer and typical winter conditions;
faster tread wear;
