Choosing a chrome cleaner

Composition and Properties

In Russia, Grass "Chrome" liquid is considered one of the most popular chrome cleaners for cars. The product is water-based, produced under license from Taiwan, in accordance with TU 2384-011-92962787-2014. With this composition, you can effectively process all the chrome parts of the car - moldings, bumpers, wheel rims, etc.

The cleaner contains:

  1. Surfactants.
  2. Silicone oil E900.
  3. organic solvents.
  4. Purifiers of mechanical impurities based on aluminum dioxide.
  5. Flavoring ingredients.

The complex of these components gives the treated surface dielectric properties, provides polishing and healing of microdefects. The effect is ensured due to the sequential cleaning and polishing of chrome parts. The resulting thin colorless film gives shine and helps protect the surface from external influences.

Grass "Chrome" is non-toxic and does not have a harmful effect on the respiratory system. However, it is not resistant to ultraviolet radiation, and is also not recommended for use at ambient temperatures above 50 °C and below 5 °C. In the latter case, the composition gradually freezes, and after thawing, the original properties are not restored. The manufacturer also does not recommend changing the concentration of individual components independently.

Chrome cleaner for cars Grass "Chrome" can also be used to clean coatings that have a different surface chemical composition - nickel-plated, aluminized, etc.

use Features

Like any other compositions intended for cleaning car parts, Grass "Chrome" is very sensitive to the quality of the surface to be treated. Corners, protrusions, cavities, ribs, radius transitions should be cleaned especially carefully: a napkin will not help there, it is better to use an old toothbrush of medium softness, which does not leave scratches after itself. Stripes and marks are removed with a damp sponge. Processing is recommended to be carried out in circular motions, in this case, there are practically no residual traces.

Choosing a chrome cleaner

The best cleaning of chrome on a car can be achieved by using aluminum foil. Aluminum is softer than chrome, so the part will not be damaged, and old dirt residues will be completely removed. A certain area is preliminarily rubbed with a piece of foil crumpled and moistened with Coca-Cola until completely cleansed, after which the surface is treated with a sponge with Grass "Chrome".

The chromium cleaner under consideration is ineffective for severe contamination, since the percentage of rust converters in the original composition is small. In this case, you have to use chemical cleaning with pastes like Sonax, and only then polish the chrome. In order to enhance the shine, you can use formulations that contain wax at the final stage of processing.

Choosing a chrome cleaner

Some user reviews describe failures associated with applying Grass "Chrome". They can be the result of excessive cleaning-polishing time, as well as the use of non-recommended (coarse-grained) abrasive cleaners. To clean chrome on a car, the grit size of the paste should not exceed M8 ... M10.

As an alternative to the described chrome cleaner for cars, other means are also used, for example, Liqui Moly Chrome shine and Doctor Wax. However, they are more expensive and Liqui Moly Chrome Glanz, in addition, must not be used if it may come into contact with aluminum parts.
