Yamaha Kodiak 400

Forgive me! I just can't describe how euphoric it is to experience a four-wheeled vehicle (commonly referred to as an ATV), convincingly enough. Undoubtedly, this is a great working machine: for hunters, for farmers, for winegrowers, for landlords. ... If you look closely at the reports, the ATVs were used by American troops in Afghanistan.

ATV means coexistence

Perhaps only the horse was so ready until it was replaced with gasoline. Anyone who lives in the countryside, at the edge of a meadow or forest, should consider an ATV. Why? Because it is more maneuverable and safer than any SUV or tractor.

Because it only weighs a good two hundred and therefore (through low-pressure tires, 0 bar pressure) hardly loads the terrain - so the wheels do not remain compressed wheels, but only pressed grass. You see, if someone is interested, that's what they do with the environment. The four-stroke engine is very quiet and has little pollution, so it is an effective assistant in work.

The Kodiak, as the Yamaha beast is called, has an automatic clutch and a continuously variable transmission, which can be assigned an operating mode: by turning on the lever (at the left knee), select the high speed mode - half the power - reverse - parking.

The drive is a continuous cardan shaft (without differential) to the rear pair of wheels. But when the electric switch on the right side of the handlebar is pressed, the drive is also discreetly engaged through the front pair of wheels. And in this case, Kodiak is capable of such depths and slopes that a person unaccustomed to feats freezes the heart a little. There is no fear that the ATV will roll over or not stand on the road.

Of course, driving an SUV or a tractor is much more risky and unpredictable. And don't forget that the ATV can be fitted with a Warn electric winch mounted behind the front bumper. Equipped in this way, it offers tremendous opportunities for work and rescue.

The ATV is not a toy, therefore it requires sober thinking and quite a bit of heroism. What matters is not explosive engine power, acceleration and speed, but balanced performance. One has only to add a decisive hand and common sense.
