A rather strange solution is to use brake fluid, which was poured into the headlights. The answer, why such a liquid was poured, is simple - to preserve the reflector and absorb moisture. The composition is absorbent, so it easily takes on water.
During operation of the headlight with brake fluid, it heats up less, which eliminates the appearance of cracks on the glass. The use of drum brake fluid was very popular. She has a red color that is beautifully highlighted at night.
Soviet cars are very similar to each other, so this unusual solution is part of the Soviet tuning that was used on the Zhiguli, Muscovites or Volga. Some motorists used disc brake fluid with a yellow color, as well as antifreeze, which shimmered with a blue tint. It was by color that one could identify the kettle, since it was fashionable to use red BSK fluid for drum brakes.

In the modern world, there is no need to use such a solution:
- Many cars are equipped with plastic instead of headlight glass.
- Tightness is many times better than that of Soviet transport.
- Brake fluid is aggressive and reflectors wear out even faster than moisture.
- Due to the fullness of the headlight, when the high beam is switched on, the illumination of the road is very poor, which makes further movement difficult.
Given the features of modern machines, there is no need for such an upgrade. It is enough to use sealants to prevent moisture from getting inside and timely monitor the general technical condition, and use the brake fluid for its intended purpose.
