Instructions
Below you will find instructions for replacing the front air suspension on Mercedes-Benz S Class 2007-2013.
- Park your Mercedes-Benz, apply the parking brakes, turn the switch to park and remove the key from the ignition. Before lifting the car, loosen the nuts.
- Jack up the car and secure it with jack stands.
- Remove the air duct to the top of the air strut. Use a 12mm wrench to loosen the nut. Slowly loosen the nut and allow air to escape before completely disconnecting the line. After the nut is unscrewed, remove the tube by pulling on it.
- Remove the three 13mm nuts connecting the brace to the brace support. We recommend that you do not completely remove the last loosening nut until you are ready to remove the air strut and replace it.
- Disconnect the upper control arm. Remove the 17mm bolt. Then use a ball joint remover to separate them.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from your S-Class air suspension strut and ABS line. Pull up on the small clip C, and then pull out the connector.
- Remove the nut (4matic) or set screw (not only for 4matic/rwd).
- You are now ready to replace the air strut on the Mercedes S-Class Install the new S-Class air strut in reverse order.
- Tighten the bolts at the top of the brace, upper and lower suspension arms.
- Lower the vehicle slowly. Dropping the vehicle to the ground too quickly can damage the air strut.
