Replacing the valve stem seals on the VAZ 2105-2107

The valve stem seals prevent engine oil from entering the combustion chamber from the cylinder head. If they are worn out, then over time the oil will fall under the valve and, accordingly, its consumption will increase. In this case, it is necessary to replace the caps. This work is not easy, but nevertheless, with the availability of the necessary tool, you can cope with it without any problems. And for this you need the following:

  1. Valve desiccant
  2. Cap remover
  3. Tweezers, long nose pliers or magnetic handle

Since the engines of “classic” cars have an identical design, the procedure for replacing oil seals will be the same for everyone, including the VAZ 2105 and 2107. First of all, you will need to remove the valve cover, then the camshaft, as well as the rocker with springs.

Then unscrew the plugs from the head and set the piston of the first cylinder to top dead center. And then insert a flexible tube into the hole, you can use a tin one, so that it does not allow the valve to sink down during drying.

Then we install the desiccant, putting it on the camshaft mounting stud opposite the valve that we will desiccate.

And we press the lever down so that the valve spring is compressed until the crackers can be removed. The photo below shows more and more clearly:

Now we take out the croutons with a magnetic handle or tweezers:

Then you can remove the device, remove the upper plate and springs from the valve. And then we need another puller with which we will remove the caps. It needs to be pressed onto the gland, and pressing it down harder with the weight, try to remove the cap by pulling it up:

As a result, we get the following picture:

To put new ones, you first need to dip them in oil. Then put the protective cap on the valve, which is usually included in the kit, and carefully press on a new oil seal. This is done by the same device, only the cap remover needs to be turned upside down. Well, then everything is done in the reverse order, I think that problems should not arise.
