Peugeot 406 stove replacement

After the winter period, Peugeot 406 owners often find antifreeze under the driver's mat, the cause of this problem is a radiator leak. Although it is worth noting that there can be many reasons why the stove does not heat up.

I personally encountered this unpleasant case. I decided to change the stove radiator with my own hands, since the officials set the price at 2-3 thousand rubles, besides, the necessary spare parts were not available. Moreover, they wrote unanimously on the forums: replacing the Peugeot 406 stove is a simple matter.

I bought Nissens 72936 in stock, as it costs 1700 rubles, and it could be delivered quickly enough. The radiator arrived very quickly. The kit included a Valeo radiator and two o-rings. As far as I understand, the radiator is made in France.

Stages of work:

1. Removed the insulation from 3 plugs at the bottom of the driver's seat.

2. Then he removed the plastic panel (attached with two torxes), the removed insulation was simply attached to it.

3. Then he removed the lower part of the console (in the area of the lower air ducts) by unscrewing the screws from the air duct and under the ashtray.

4. Next, I unscrewed the screw that attached the steering shaft to the steering column, carefully noting its location in order to properly install the steering wheel later.

5. I then sunk a plastic bracket under the steering column to secure it.

6. Now it's time to disconnect all the necessary electrical connectors (those that may interfere with the removal of the steering column). Many masters advise to remove the steering wheel and the entire system, but I decided to avoid this and completely removed the steering column without disassembling it. It is fastened with two bolts, so the column is easy to remove, just pull it towards you.

7. Then I unscrewed screw 1, which is shown in the photo. This plate made it difficult to remove the radiator, so I unfolded it and held it with my hand. It is not difficult to bend it, it is a fairly soft material.

8. Then he unscrewed screw 2, located in the center. Connect the pipes to the radiator. I put a container for draining antifreeze, unscrewed the plug of the expansion tank and pulled out the radiator pipes.

9. As soon as a bunch of antifreeze poured out of the stove (it poured out in the region of two liters), I unscrewed 3 screws.

10. Then he removed the stove, thoroughly cleaned it of dirt and dust and assembled a new stove.

Visually worn oven to the smallest detail looks like new: absolutely no plates and signs of rust. But it leaks, most likely, the metal-plastic junction.

11. The last step in the procedure was to replace the O-ring. Then I put everything back together in reverse order and filled it with antifreeze. Finally, I warmed up the car and made sure that the system worked perfectly.
