Replacing the front struts, springs and supports on the Priore

The main problem of the front suspension, which many owners of over 80-100 thousand kilometers have to face, is the wear of the front struts. Because of this, extraneous knocks appear in the suspension and often oil drips near the stem. In this case, you have to change the entire rack assembly. You can also check the rest of the suspension, such as the journal bearings, the bearings themselves, and the springs.

In order to carry out repairs on our own in a garage, we need the following tool:

  • balloon wrench
  • pry hammer
  • 9 open-end wrench and 22 union wrench to unscrew the upper rack nut
  • jack, more convenient rolling
  • pliers
  • keys for 17 and 19, as well as heads with a crank
  • 13 head with ratchet
  • penetrating grease and spring ties

As for the screeds, the most convenient will be reinforced options that have two grips on each side, for example, as in the photo below:

So, first of all, when the car is still on wheels, and not raised, it is necessary to unscrew the upper nut securing the rack to the support, but not completely, but simply loosen it.

After that, you can raise the front of the car with a jack and remove the wheel:

Now you need to remove the brake hose from its engagement on the rack, as shown in the photo below:

Next, you can unscrew the nut of the ball pin of the steering tip, after removing the cotter pin with pliers:
