Replacing the pump with a body on the Niva

Failure of the water pump on the Niva can lead to rather serious consequences, especially if this breakdown happens on the way. The consequences can be quite serious, since a breakdown of the pump will provoke overheating of the engine, because the coolant will not circulate through the system. If you decide to independently repair the car and replace the pump yourself, then for this you will need the following tool, the list of which is clearly shown below:

1. Socket heads for 10 and 13
2. Vorotok
3. Extension Cords
4. Ratchet handles
5. Phillips screwdriver

Of course, to perform this procedure, the first step is to drain the coolant. To do this, it is enough to unscrew the plug of the cooling radiator, and the plug in the cylinder block, having previously substituted a container for draining the antifreeze or antifreeze. Also, it is necessary to loosen the alternator belt in order to then remove the water pump without problems.

Then you need to unscrew the nuts securing the fluid supply pipe to the pump, there are only two of them, which are shown in the photo below:

Then carefully take the tube back, and in no case should you pull on it, since with considerable effort it can be broken, and then you will have to change it too:

After that, unscrew one bolt securing the water pump from above:

And two bolts on the bottom:

Then, using a Phillips screwdriver, we loosen the fasteners of the hose clamp, which goes from the thermostat to the pump, and pull off this hose. And now it only remains to remove the entire body of the device, since it is no longer attached to anything.

Of course, it is not always necessary to remove the pump on the Niva together with the case; in most cases, it is enough to remove only the part itself. But in this case, everything is made even easier, since it will be enough to unscrew only a few nuts with a 13 wrench. The price of a new pump is within 1200 rubles, even at some points it is a little cheaper. Installation is carried out in reverse order using the same tools as for removal. Do not forget to refill the coolant to the optimum level.
