Diagnostics Mercedes W211

Mercedes W211 came to us to diagnose the state of the chassis. The car had 165 km on it and the driver wanted to make sure all the suspension components were in good condition.

During the inspection, we check the following items:

  • levers,
  • shock absorbers
  • silent blocks,
  • bearings,
  • brake discs and pads,
  • brake lines and other parts.

It is important to understand that the failure of any suspension element can threaten driving safety. Therefore, we recommend not to start a malfunction, because when a malfunction has just appeared, it is cheaper to repair it, and damage to neighboring elements is unlikely.

What is anther and why is it needed in a Mercedes? In general, there are a lot of anthers in the car, while they have a function. Dust boots protect other parts from dirt, dust, moisture, etc. They contain rubber. Rubber loses its properties over time, hardens, cracks and begins to pass dirt. In this case, the element must be replaced.

On this Mercedes, all suspension parts were in order. The only exception was the CV joint boot, a constant velocity joint. They showed the owner of the car what condition it was in, agreed on a replacement and proceeded to repair.

The car has two CV joints: internal and external. Externally, the anthers look like a cone and are composed of silicone and neoprene. To replace the SHRUS air springs, we lift the Mercedes onto the lift and get to work:

  • remove the wheel
  • disengage the lever
  • unclench your fist
  • remove the hinge
  • remove the gripper
  • take the block out of the box,
  • remove the trunk and install a new one,
  • then we collect everything back.
