How to replace the steering rack step by step?

  1. A step-by-step replacement of the steering rack must begin with lifting the car and removing the wheels from the front axle.
  2. Spray rust remover on the tie rod end nut. Leave for a few minutes.
  3. Remove the lower drive cover.
  4. Remove the tie rod end retaining nut.
  5. Using a ball stud remover, remove the tie rod end.
  6. Remove the dust cover clip that is mounted on the steering gear. 
  7. Move the cover so that it is closer to the bar.
  8. Unscrew the rod from the toothed rod.
  9. Thoroughly clean the sealing surface on the dust cover.
  10. Install the new rod into the gear rack.
  11. Replace the dust cover and close the clamps.
  12. Now the end of the rod should be installed in the steering knuckle.
  13. Insert the engine bottom cover.
  14. Start assembling the front wheels.
  15. Install the geometry and take a test drive. If everything is working properly, the steering rack replacement is complete.
