Replacing valve seals - everything you need to know

Valve seals are components mounted on the head of the drive unit. Without them, it would be impossible to maintain the complete tightness of the cylinder block. They are responsible for sealing the valve stems and preventing oil from entering the cylinders. It is no secret that, like all other elements, they also naturally wear out after a while. If this happens, the valve stem seals will need to be replaced.

This operation is extremely difficult, but it can be done independently. Of course, only if you can demonstrate your knowledge of mechanics and your garage is equipped with the right tools. Check out how to replace valve seals yourself!

Replacing valve stem seals in a car - when is it necessary?

It is worth knowing how to replace valve seals. But the important thing is to know when to do it. You certainly don't want to get rid of functional components. Therefore, you need to know the symptoms that will tell about their defeat.

The most common sign that valve seals need to be replaced is blue smoke from the exhaust pipe. However, do not confuse this sign with a black or white exhaust. The next alarming situation is the excessive consumption of oil, which can be encountered during its periodic measurement. In such cases, it is necessary to replace the valve seals.
