Replacing the crankshaft oil seal and pulley on the VAZ 2107, 2105

If the crankshaft oil seal on a VAZ 2107 car is damaged or worn out, oil will leak from its seat. With severe wear, it will often be necessary to even pour into the engine, since the level can drop quite quickly. In this case, it is imperative to replace the oil seal. You can do this with your own hands, having at hand the necessary tool, the list of which will be given below:

1. Key for 41
2. Chisel
3. Flat blade screwdriver
4. Puller
5. Hammer

This procedure can be performed on a car, although in this case it will be examined on a removed engine to show it in more detail.

Removing the crankshaft pulley

 

• So, first of all, we unscrew the crankshaft pulley, keeping it from turning with a chisel (or other tool).
• Then we unscrew the nut to the end by hand.

Then you can proceed directly to the dismantling of the pulley itself. It can be pryed from different sides with a flat wide screwdriver, or in the fastest way - using a special puller:

Replacing the front oil seal

Then you can start replacing the oil seal. To do this, you can pry it off with a screwdriver, or you can do it using one of the hooks of this very puller:

The price of a new oil seal is no more than a hundred rubles, so the wallet does not pull too much! You need to install a new one only after wiping the seat, and do everything very carefully. First, we insert it exactly into its place, and then we point the old oil seal on it - and gently punch it in a circle with a hammer until it sits tightly!
