Hyundai Getz Fuel Filter Replacement
If you do not have the ability or desire to pay extra to service stations for replacing the fuel filter, and the time has come to replace it, install a new filter yourself.
The convenient location of the filter element does not require lifting the car on a lift. And to install a new filter, it is enough to remove the rear seat cushion.
Replacement process
When performing the procedure for replacing the filter element on a Hyundai Getz car, you need to arm yourself with: pliers, a Phillips and flat screwdriver, a tube of sealant and a nozzle for 12.
Fuel filter replacement procedure:
- Then remove the protective plastic cover. It is worth remembering that it is fixed on the sealant, so pry it with a screwdriver to avoid deformation.
- Now the hatch on four self-tapping screws is “open” in front of you.
- Now you need to lower the pressure in the system. To do this, start the engine and disconnect the fuel pump power connector retainer. Having cleaned or vacuumed the cover from dirt and sand, we boldly disconnected the fuel hoses.
Let's start replacing, but first you need to get to it. It is located under the rear seat. With a head on "12" with an extension, unscrew the screw securing the passenger seat cushion. We remove and remove the pillow from the passenger compartment. We heat the sealant with a building hair dryer, since the gas station manhole cover is not screwed, but glued. Once heated, simply lift up the plastic cover and remove it.
- First, remove both fuel supply hoses, for this you will need pliers. While holding the retaining clips with them, remove the hose. Remember that you will most likely spill the rest of the gasoline in the system.
- We unscrew the fasteners of the fuel pump.
Press the latch and remove the connector. You need to flush the lid from the top so that dirt does not get into the tank.
- After that, remove the ring and very carefully pull the filter out of the housing.
- Be careful not to spill any remaining fuel into the filter, and be sure to set the fuel level float.
- Using a flathead screwdriver, pry up the metal clips and remove both tubes, then remove the two connectors.
We compress the ends of the clamp with pliers, which holds the fuel supply hose to the adsorber, move the clamp along the hose. Then remove the hose from the fuel module cap fitting. We remove the support for the fuel vapor supply pipe to the canister purge solenoid valve from the hole in the module cover support. We press the clamps on the tip of the fuel supply pipe to the ramp, remove the tip of the fitting from the module cover.
- Gently prying on one side of the plastic latch, release the guides. This step will help you attach them to the lid.
With a head on “8”, we unscrew the eight screws that hold the pressure plate of the module cover. We remove the plate. We take a pre-prepared container, remove the fuel module from the opening of the fuel tank and put it there.
- You can remove the filter element together with the pump from the glass only by holding the plastic latches.
Drain the fuel from the fuel filter. We disassemble the fuel module to remove the box with the fine filter. From the tip of the fuel supply pipe from the filter to the module cover, we remove the metal brackets (spring clamps), they are removed with a screwdriver, there are only two of them (front and rear). Using a screwdriver, pry off the rear spring clip.
- Disconnect the negative channel cable. Insert a screwdriver between the motor latches and the filter ring so that it can be disengaged.
- After the steps have been taken, it remains to remove the metal valve.
With a flat screwdriver, press the clamps of the two guide rods of the fuel module cover into the housing. Disconnect the fuel module cover and glass. Remove the fuel pump connector. Using a flat screwdriver, remove the three latches on the fuel filter housing. We take out the module with the fuel pump. Disconnect the cable. We loosen the two clamps on the pump, remove the fuel pump from the module.
- Then remove all O-rings from the old filter, check their integrity and install the valve on the new filter.
- To remove the plastic part, you will need to loosen the latches, the next step is to install the o-rings on the new filter. At this point, you can start the build process.
- First install the engine on the filter and hook both fuel hoses with metal clamps.
We remove the old coarse filter mesh, take a new mesh and replace it. We put on the fuel pump and fix it with a lock washer. But in order to change the fine fuel filter, you need to continue the procedure with the plastic casing in which the pump was installed. We take a new module, insert a bomb into it and fix it. Then we rearrange all the missing elements from the previous filter. We take out the sealing gum from the tip. We put the sealing ring, if this is not done, then the gum can twist and gasoline will flow out of it. We fix the latch. From below we break, thereby fixing the bomb. Then we remove the remaining parts of the old fuel module. Doing more assembly.
- After installing the motor, install the filter back into the housing, it will enter there only in the only correct position.
- We install the hatch with guides, tighten the fixing bolts and connect the power column to its place.
The pump is now fully assembled and can be installed back into the fuel tank. Lubricate the contour of the edge of the protective cover with sealant and fix it in place.
Part selection
The Hyundai Getz fuel filter is located in the fuel module along with the fuel pump, fuel level sensor, which in turn is immersed in the fuel tank, which can be accessed from the passenger compartment after removing the rear seat. Then you need to lift the mat, which is fastened with two clips on the right and left, the clips can be safely lifted. There is a hatch under the carpet, which is fastened not with screws, but with glue, we tear it off. Hyundai Getz fuel filters have a different design and catalog numbers depending on the year of manufacture and region. Applicability numbers are given in the table.

An external fuel filter is installed on diesel versions of Hyundai Getz with a 1.5 CRDi diesel engine. It is located in the engine compartment on the left side when viewed in the direction of the vehicle. Also, depending on the year of manufacture of the car, its dimensions and numbers will be different. This is due to a change in the design of the fuel system at the end of 2005.
