Replacing rear shock absorbers Mercedes W169

A Mercedes W169 car, class A, came to us for repairs, in which the rear shock absorbers (struts) need to be replaced. We will show you detailed photo and video instructions on how to do it yourself in a garage.

Jack up the car, remove the rear wheels. Raise the lever. Using a 16-inch head and a 16-inch wrench, unscrew the fasteners:

We hook the bolt with a screwdriver and remove it from the seat. We remove the jack from the lever. We lowered the car and opened the trunk. We turn over the plastic lamb and open the technological hatch:

We disassemble the body manually. Using an adjustable wrench and a 17 wrench, unscrew the top bracket:

Remove the old shock absorber from the cord. We take out a new shock absorber, put it in a vertical position, remove the retainer and pump it up, lowering it 5-6 times, and then raising it completely. After that, the shelf cannot be moved to a horizontal position.

We install a new shock absorber, first we twist the upper mount:

After that, we raise the lever again or press it with a hydraulic rail, as in our case, and tighten the lower bolt. If you want to unscrew it without problems in the future, lubricate the threads with copper or graphite grease. We put the wheel in place and go to the other side, the rear shocks must be changed in pairs, even if one of you is out of order and the other feels fine.
