Replacing the rear brake pads on the Grant

The wear of the rear brake pads on the Lada Granta car is much slower than the wear of the front ones, but anyway, sooner or later, almost every car owner will have to face this simple repair. And you can do this work with your own hands without any problems. Of course, before starting, you must have all the necessary tools at hand, namely:

• flat screwdriver
• pliers or long nose pliers
• 7 head with ratchet

The procedure for performing work on dismantling and installing new pads on a Lada Granta car

First you need to rip off the rear wheel bolts. Then lift the car with a jack and unscrew the bolts to the end, remove the wheel. Next, you need to familiarize yourself with rear drum removal instructions... When you have coped with it, you can proceed to the very procedure of replacing the pads.

So, first of all, on the left side, we disconnect the central spring that fixes the block. You can clearly see this in the photo below:

Next, using a screwdriver, try to disconnect one end of the upper compression spring, as shown below:

Now the left block can be removed without any problems, all that remains is to disconnect the lower spring:

And to remove the right side, you just need to remove the central spring with pliers, and then the entire mechanism, together with the parking brake lever, can be easily taken to the side:

And it remains only to disconnect all this from the handbrake cable, as is clearly shown in the photo below:

Now you are almost done. Next, we disconnect the right side: the lever from the shoe, after removing the cotter pin with pliers:

 

Now it remains to buy new pads, of course, it is advisable to do this in advance. The price of new ones for the Grant ranges from 400 to 800 rubles per set. And the cost may depend on the manufacturer and the place of purchase. The installation is carried out in the reverse order. Before installing the drums, you may need to loosen the parking brake cable, so be aware of this point.
