Misted windows. How to cope?

Misted windows. How to cope? Fogging of car windows is a common occurrence in the autumn-winter season. Many drivers underestimate this problem and start moving before the windows become transparent. However, limited visibility can lead to an accident.

This scenario is well known to most drivers: we are in a hurry, we get into the car, wanting to leave immediately, and we see the windows completely fogged up ... In such a situation, we may be tempted to briefly wipe part of the glass in front of us and leave the parking lot, but this behavior can lead to an accident .

Good visibility is the basis of our road safety. Definitely, the ability to observe the road through part of the glass is not enough, because the smaller the field of view, the greater the chance that we will not notice the sudden appearance of a pedestrian or obstacle in front of us. says Zbigniew Veseli, expert at the Renault Driving School.

How to make windows evaporate?

So what to do in this situation? We can turn on the air flow and direct it to the glass. However, do not forget to turn off the closed air circulation, because it is the humid air in a closed car that is the source of the problem. Air conditioning, additionally drying the air, copes with the problem even better. A considerable share in the effective evaporation of moisture from the windows has a cabin filter - you should take care of its regular replacement.

If we can't wait, we can wipe the glass with a clean cloth, but remember to do it carefully.

Better to prevent than to cure

To reduce the problem of fogging windows, we must prevent the accumulation of moisture in our car. In autumn and winter, this is not an easy task, because we often get into the car in wet clothes. For this reason, in the event of a snowfall, it is important to shake off your shoes in advance and check the condition of the mats - this is where water accumulates.

It is also worth checking if the door seals and trunk lid are damaged. We must also remember to clean the glass not only from the outside, but also from the inside, because it is easier to collect moisture on dirty glass. We can also try a moisture absorber. You can do it yourself by placing a bag filled with salt, rice, or cat litter in your car.
