The trailer's data sheet contains the word "indefinitely", so there is no formal obligation to conduct an inspection. However, this does not mean that trailer equipment is maintenance-free.
In order for it to serve long and safely, certain actions are necessary. This applies to every caravan, especially a caravan for which the season has ended and the next one will not start until spring. Owners usually leave camping cars in the parking lots in the fall and do not take an interest in them for many months. Indeed, it does not require special care. However, the method of storage in winter, despite everything, affects the durability of the trailer and operational reliability.
First of all, leaving it for the winter, you should thoroughly wash the body and chassis. The trailer should not stand on wheels, but on supports so that the tires do not touch the ground. In any case, it is better to remove the wheels. The ball seat must be lubricated with grease. If the campsite has a raid device, check it to make sure there are no problems before leaving. If you find any play in the hitch, you must replace it. Brake pads and cables also require attention, as they wear out during operation. You should also remember to eliminate backlash in the bearings and lubricate them.
Most caravans spend the winter outdoors seducing thieves. So it is better to remove all moving equipment from the trailer. In any case, the bedding stored in it can get wet, and sponges age faster. Therefore, it is better to take them to a dry room. Much better when the trailer is in the garage. Then do not close the window on the roof, so that air circulation is possible.
Some trailers have a long service life. After 10-12 years of operation, they already require a major overhaul. For example, the sponge lining the walls of a trailer gets old. Its durability largely depends on the conditions of use and storage. In the open air, these processes proceed faster, the sponge begins to crumble and needs to be replaced. It's the same with mattresses.
