5 things to keep in mind when buying a used car from a dealership

Used car dealers must also meet certain requirements and provide you with cars in the best possible condition. Pay attention and don't forget to ask for all these things if they haven't already been added.

The pleasure and excitement of buying a car can make us not appreciate what we are given. Some dealers in the country are taking advantage of customer happiness by pretending they forgot to properly deliver the car.

In many cases, the excitement and rush of driving a newly purchased car does not guarantee that whatever you borrow will be delivered to you. However, you must be calm and ask for whatever is to be delivered to you.

So if you're thinking about buying a used car from a dealer, make sure you don't forget these five things.

1.- Tank full of gasoline 

A vehicle with an empty gas tank from a dealership is not exclusive to used vehicles, but still applicable. Dealers should not give you a car without a full tank of gas. 

The dealer usually has a gas station nearby where they can fill up quickly. It won't take long, but it will save you money. Even if the gas tank is 3/4 full, the dealer will fill it to the top. 

2.- Second key

Spare keys are something you don't care about until you need them. However, when you need it, it's already too late. Keeping the only set of keys in the car or losing it is easy to avoid a messy situation that will ruin your day.

Don't let them fool you; there is always a way to get an extra key if you don't have one. Chances are the key will be quite expensive to make and you don't want to be the one to buy a second key after buying a used car. 

Finally, no seller will miss out on a deal for a few hundred dollars for a key. Don't leave a used car dealership without a spare key.

3.- CarFax for your used car

Number of owners, accidents, repairs, title status and more are included in every CarFax report. Vital information that people need to know about buying a used car is included. 

If you bring home a copy of the CarFax report, you will have time to study every detail. Most dealers have a window of a few days to return the car, so finding something wrong is important even the next day at home. If something seems wrong, call the dealer and ask or return the car as soon as possible.

4.- This is an auto limpio

In most cases, dealers have vehicle information at the time of sale. It doesn't usually look dirty because it was probably cleaned when it arrived at the dealer. However, dirt, dust, pollen and more likely accumulated while it was in the dealer's parking lot.

A good finish usually costs a few hundred dollars, so make sure the dealer provides it for you. Everything inside and out of the car must be perfectly spotless when you leave. 

5.- Inspection

Most states across the country require every vehicle to be inspected periodically and have an inspection sticker applied. Dealers inspect vehicles and make appropriate repairs when they arrive on site. In addition, they can make a sticker with the exact expiration date on site and place it on the windshield of the car. 

Save yourself the trip back to the dealership and make sure you have an inspection tag with you when you go shopping for a used car.
