VAZ 2105 is not the most popular model of a domestic manufacturer. More modern “sixes” and “sevens” have surpassed 2105 in a number of ways. However, it is the Pyaterochka that has the longest possible service life, and this is largely due to such body protection as a bumper.
Bumper VAZ 2105 - purpose
It is impossible to imagine a modern fleet of vehicles without such equipment as a bumper. Any car without fail already from the factory is equipped with buffers both front and rear, the main function of which is protection.
The bumper on the VAZ 2105 is needed to protect the body from strong mechanical shocks, and is also the final element of the exterior: the buffer gives the car a complete design and aesthetics. In the event of collisions with other cars while driving, the bumper will take on the full force of the impact, thereby softening the impact on the body of the car and on the people sitting in the passenger compartment.
It is worth remembering that it is the buffers of the VAZ 2105 that account for the lion's share of all chips and dents due to the awkwardness or inexperience of the driver. But the bumper, as a rule, is resistant to this type of impact.

VAZ 2105 was produced from 1979 to 2010. Throughout this time, bumper elements made of aluminum and plastic were made to equip the model. The front bumper has a U-shape, while the rear one is made in a strictly horizontal design.
What bumper can be put on the "five"
Motorists often experiment with VAZ bumpers. For example, experienced “five drivers” have an opinion that the VAZ 2105 bumper can be the best equipment option for the VAZ 2107. On the one hand, this is so, because the products are identical in size and geometry. But on the other hand, buffers from the “five” are considered more durable and impact resistant, so it makes no sense to change them to “sevens”.
It is possible and unnecessary, the bumpers are almost the same, the only material is different, 05 is more worthwhile. and from them you can make a very wonderful bumper just by doing styling on it. Two types of bumpers are installed on the VAZ 2105:

- the back is completely plastic.
Structurally, you can attach a bumper from any VAZ to the "five". For this, it is practically not necessary to modify the fasteners or change anything in the design of the buffer itself. When replacing an element, it is worth considering not only the visual presentability of the car, but also the price of the part, as well as the strength of the material of manufacture.
On the VAZ 2105, some amateurs also mount bumpers from foreign cars, but this will require significant improvements. The buffer from Fiat cars is considered the best option, although these elements will also require some changes in the mounting and geometry of the buffer itself.
It is important to understand that creating an original appearance on the VAZ 2105 using unusual bumpers does not solve the problem of protection. Only the factory bumpers of the "five" optimally protect the body from impacts and thereby prevent maximum damage in an accident.
Do they put homemade bumpers on the VAZ 2105
Often, after a serious accident, the owners of a domestic car decide not to spend money on buying a new bumper, but make it from improvised materials. Someone can independently weld a completely reliable buffer and attach it to the body. However, no matter how strong and beautiful a homemade bumper is, installing such products on a car is fraught with problems with the law. Part 1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses 12.5 states that it is prohibited to operate a car with unregistered modifications to body elements. For this, a fine of 500 rubles is established.
7.18. Changes have been made to the design of the vehicle without the permission of the State Road Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation or other bodies determined by the Government of the Russian Federation.
But the list existing in the Code of Administrative Offenses does not contain the name of such a structural element of a car as a “bumper”. We can say that the law does not officially punish with fines for installing a non-factory bumper on a car. However, traffic police officers can stop such a car due to its unusual appearance. In this case, it is unlikely that it will be possible to get out of the written protocol.
Removing the front bumper
Even a beginner can remove the front bumper from the VAZ 2105 - this is a simple and easy procedure. You only need three tools to get the job done:
- a screwdriver with a thin flat blade;
- open-end wrench for 10;
- open end wrench 13.
The process itself takes about 10 minutes:
- Pry off the bumper cover with the tip of a screwdriver.
- Remove the trim, taking care not to scratch the surface of the bumper itself.
- Using spanners, unscrew the nuts with the buffer mounting bracket bolt (they are located on the inside of the bumper).
- Pull the buffer towards you and remove it from the bracket.
The new bumper is installed in reverse order. If necessary, you can replace the bolts and nuts if they are badly corroded.

Removing the rear bumper
To remove the rear buffer from the VAZ 2105, you will need the same set of tools: a flat screwdriver and open-end wrenches for 10 and 13. The dismantling procedure is practically no different from the process of removing the front bumper, however, it is worth considering some of the nuances of the fasteners. In some years of production, the VAZ 2105 was equipped with rear bumpers, which were fixed on the body not only with bolts, but also with screws. Accordingly, the lining could not be removed quickly - you had to unscrew the screws with a screwdriver.

The VAZ 2105 is also characterized by such a concept as the "fangs" of the bumper. These are special devices that help keep the buffer in a strictly horizontal position. The fangs are made of plastic and rubber and complement the bracket, as well as enhance the protection of the body itself. On the VAZ 2105, the bumper fangs are fixed directly to the surface of the bracket through a stud and a lock washer. You can remove the buffer both separately and with fangs if they are cracked or broken and require replacement.

VAZ 2105 is a car that usually does not cause difficulties in terms of repair or replacement of spare parts. Even an inexperienced driver can change the bumper on the model. However, it is important to keep in mind that a beautiful original-looking bumper may not protect the body from a strong collision, so it is recommended to choose standard factory buffers that have good protective properties.
