Chevrolet Cruze

It's impossible not to love compact cars. They are so neat that they do not cause problems in the city and at the same time are versatile enough that both the holiday trip and the trip on the highway do not tire anyone. At least that's how it should be in a decent car of this type. This makes C-class cars quite popular and creates a problem. How to stand out in the thicket of CDs?

Well, among the many models available from different brands, the Chevrolet Cruze simply shone in this regard. Admittedly, Chevrolet's compact sedan is well-proportioned. The stylish and sporty line begins with the steeply sloping windshield and continues all the way to the slender C-pillars that flow smoothly into the tailgate. What if sedans are associated with midlife crisis and hair loss? Nothing is lost, the Cruze now also comes as a neat hatchback. The sloping roofline is reminiscent of a coupe body, so all this will surely appeal to young people. Distinctive stylistic features of each version? With slanted headlights, a large split grille and clean lines, this car is unmistakable. Individualists will be pleased. What about aesthetes?

Also, especially when it comes to the interior. Firstly, the quality of the materials used is simply pleasing. They are not a sticky mineral water bottle recovery product. On the contrary, they have an interesting texture, they are pleasant to the touch and look beautiful. Chevrolet also pays great attention to the fit of individual elements. Cruze is designed for extremely demanding Europeans. This is an advantage because they raise the bar high, so Chevrolet even introduced strict regulations regarding the tolerance of gaps between cabin elements. Moreover, the upholstery has a special French stitching, which prevents the seams from stretching. The whole thing was spiced up with sporty-style flavors. The backlight has a soft blue color, but it does not burn the eyes, as it was not so long ago in Volkswagen cars. The clock is housed in tubes and the cockpit design is unique compared to other brands. Finally something new. No one should complain about the equipment already in the cheapest version. The driver's seat can be adjusted in 6 directions. To do this, you do not have to pay extra for a CD / mp3 player, power windows and central locking with remote control. Interestingly, the Cruze is one of the most extensive vehicles in its class. Tall people will have no problem with legroom, headroom or shoulder room - after all, the Cruze outperforms competitors even in the width of the cabin. But does the sporty look match the engines?

Everyone has a choice of two relatively powerful petrol motorcycles. The 1.6-liter unit has a power of 124 hp, and the 1.8-liter unit has 141 hp. They come with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, but for the more demanding, you can buy a 6-speed automatic transmission. Environmentalists should love this car for two reasons. Of course, all units comply with the EURO 5 emission standard, and on request it is possible to order a version adapted for the installation of an LPG gas installation. Is there something stronger? Certainly! Surprisingly, the flagship unit is a diesel engine - its two liters squeeze out 163 km, and it can also be combined with a manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission. All units are designed in such a way as to maximize the practicality of this car - both in leisurely city driving and when conquering the country on the highway. How is the security?

You can’t save on this, and Chevrolet knows this very well. That is why I do not ask anyone to pay extra for 6 airbags, a reinforced body structure, ISOFIX child seat anchorages and seat belt pretensioners. Okay, but what about active protection that will prevent an accident? It's hard to want more. Regular ABS with emergency braking assistance, but this does not surprise anyone. It is surprising, however, how many other safety features the manufacturer adds to the price of the car. Stability control, traction control, front and rear wheel brake control… No wonder the EuroNCAP Cruze received the top 5-star rating in the EuroNCAP crash test. Chevrolet has even taken care of driving, which also improves safety.

Both the sedan and hatchback are equipped with an invention called the integral body-to-frame system. Its abbreviation is slightly less complex - BFI. But what does all this really do? Very simple - thanks to this design, it was possible to increase the stability of the car. Not only that, the grip has improved, and the acceleration has become more dynamic. Anyway, you can see the effects - on the track. Cruze has won the World Touring Car Championship twice, and it so happens that few brands can boast of this type of sporting achievement.

So, should Cruz be considered when buying? Of course, after all, this is a refined car built for demanding Europeans. In addition, they come from a noble family, which includes the legendary Camaro and Corvette. All this, seasoned with good standard equipment and a reasonable price, is an interesting proposition for individualists who do not want to drive boring cars. Aesthetes will love this car, and everyone else too, because it's actually a reasonable car for everyone.
