Slotted screws are designed to be tightened with a flat blade screwdriver. Make sure you select the correct bit size for your screw.

  • Flat blade bits can be easily resharpened if worn

  • Compared to other types, slotted screws are simpler and cheaper to manufacture and therefore purchase.

  • The bits of a flat blade screwdriver tend to slip out of a slotted screw when a lot of torque is applied. This may damage the screw or work surface.

  • It is difficult to center the slotted screwdriver bit in the slotted screwdriver. Other designs allow easier centering
