Renault Logan Gauges

Renault Logan Gauges

Renault Logan is one of the most popular cars in Russia. Due to the low cost and reliability, many prefer this particular car. Logan is equipped with an economical 1,6-liter injection engine, which significantly saves fuel. As you know, for the correct and reliable operation of the injector in a car, a large number of different sensors are used that are involved in the operation of the internal combustion engine.

No matter how reliable the car is, breakdowns still happen. Since Logan has a large number of sensors, the probability of failure is quite high, and in order to further identify the culprit of the malfunction, it is necessary to make a lot of efforts or even use computer diagnostics.

This article talks about all the sensors installed on Renault Logan, that is, their purpose, location, signs of malfunctions, by which you can identify a faulty sensor without using computer diagnostics.

The engine control unit

Renault Logan Gauges

To control the engine on Renault Logan, a special computer is used, called the Engine Electronic Control Unit, abbreviated ECU. This part is the brain center of the car, which processes all the readings coming from all the sensors in the car. The ECU is a small box inside containing an electrical panel with a lot of radio parts.

In most cases, computer failure is caused by moisture; in other cases, this part is very reliable and the crane rarely fails on its own without human intervention.

Location

The engine control unit is located in Renault Logan, under the hood next to the battery and is covered with a special plastic protective cover. Access to it opens after removing the battery.

Malfunction symptoms:

The signs of a computer malfunctioning include all problems that may be related to the sensors. There are no typical problems with the ECU. It all depends on the failure of a certain element inside the sensor.

For example, if the transistor responsible for the operation of the ignition coil of one of the cylinders burns out, then the spark will disappear in this cylinder and the engine will triple, etc.

Crankshaft position sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

The sensor that determines the position of the crankshaft in a given period of time is called the crankshaft position sensor (DPKV). The sensor is used to determine the top dead center of the piston, that is, it tells the ECU when to apply a spark to the desired cylinder.

Location

The Renault Logan crankshaft position sensor is located under the air filter housing and is attached to the gearbox housing with a plate on two bolts. Read the DPKV readings from the flywheel.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • The engine does not start (no spark);
  • Engine bit;
  • Traction is gone, the car twitches;

Coolant temperature sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To determine the temperature of the engine, a special coolant temperature sensor is used, which changes its resistance with temperature changes and transmits readings to the computer. The engine control unit, taking readings, corrects the fuel mixture, making it "richer" or "poorer" depending on the temperature. The sensor is also responsible for turning on the cooling fan.

Location

DTOZH Renault Logan is installed in the cylinder block below the air filter housing and above the DPKV.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • The engine does not start well in hot / cold weather;
  • High fuel consumption;
  • Black smoke from the chimney;

Knock sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To reduce engine knock caused by poor fuel quality, a special knock sensor is used. This sensor detects engine knock and sends signals to the ECU. The engine block, based on the indications of DD, changes the ignition timing, thus reducing detonation in the engine. The sensor works on the principle of a piezoelectric element, i.e. it generates a small voltage when an impact is detected.

Location

The Renault Logan knock sensor is located in the cylinder block, that is, between the second and third cylinders.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • Hit the "fingers", increasing the speed;
  • Engine vibration;
  • Increased fuel consumption;

Speed sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To accurately determine the speed of the vehicle, a special speed sensor is used, which reads the rotation of the gear of the gearbox. The sensor has a magnetic part that reads the rotation of the gear and transmits the readings to the computer and then to the speedometer. DS works on the principle of the Hall effect.

Location

The Renault Logan speed sensor is installed in the gearbox.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • The speedometer does not work;
  • The odometer does not work;

Absolute pressure sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To determine the pressure in the Renault Logan intake manifold, an absolute air pressure sensor is used. The sensor detects the vacuum created in the intake pipe when the throttle is opened and the crankshaft rotates. The obtained readings are converted into output voltage and transmitted to the computer.

Location

Renault Logan absolute pressure sensor is located in the intake pipe.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • Uneven idling;
  • The engine does not start well;
  • Increased fuel consumption;

Intake air temperature sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To calculate the intake air temperature on Logan, a special air temperature sensor in the intake pipe is used. Determining the air temperature is necessary for the correct preparation of the fuel mixture and its subsequent formation.

Location

The air temperature sensor is located in the intake pipe next to the throttle assembly.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • Increased fuel consumption;
  • Unstable operation of the entire internal combustion engine;
  • Falls during acceleration;

Throttle sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To determine the opening angle of the shock absorber inside the throttle valve, a special sensor is used, which is called the throttle position sensor (TPS). The sensor is required to calculate the damper opening angle. This is necessary for the correct composition of the fuel mixture.

Location

The throttle position sensor is located in the throttle body.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • Idling speed jump;
  • The engine stops when the accelerator pedal is released;
  • Spontaneous stop of the engine;
  • Increased fuel consumption;

Oxygen concentration sensor

Renault Logan Gauges

To reduce emissions of harmful substances into the environment that occur during the operation of an internal combustion engine, a special sensor is used that checks the concentration of carbon dioxide in the exhaust gases. If the parameters exceed the permissible values, it transmits the readings to the computer, which in turn adjusts the fuel mixture to reduce harmful emissions.

Location

The oxygen concentration sensor (lambda probe) is located in the exhaust manifold.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • Increased fuel consumption;
  • Loss of vehicle power;
  • Black smoke from the chimney;

Ignition coil

Renault Logan Gauges

This part is designed to create a high voltage that is transmitted to the spark plug and creates a spark in the combustion chamber. The ignition module is made of heat-resistant plastic, inside of which there is a winding. The wires connect to the ignition module and connect to the spark plugs. The MV can generate very high voltage.

Location

The Renault Logan ignition module is located on the left side of the engine near the decorative cover.

Malfunction symptoms:

  • One of the cylinders does not work (the machine is troit);
  • Loss of engine power;
  • No spark;
