Yesterday's answers are not enough today, tomorrow will be today's history. Ducati's answer today has a simple name: the Ducati 999 Monoposto. Will he become a new star and ruler of the motorcycle sky?

The creation of the new Ducati story was entrusted to its own design department in its hometown of Bologna. The fact that the Italians have surpassed the stereotypes about their neighbors and recognize only the best is also proved by the person who heads this department. This is not an Italian, but a Frenchman Pierre Terblanche. True, Monoposto is a logical continuation of naming, as it is intended for personal pleasure. Those who like to indulge in adrenaline in pairs can afford the Biposto model.

I first met the new Ducati live at the Intermot in September, and a few months later I had the opportunity to drive it down the Milky Way. I started Rajjo right at the plant in Bologna. But before I left, I was surrounded by Ducati workers who, you will not believe, saw the Ducati 999 live for the first time.

It is understandable if I tell you that only part of the motorcycle is made in Bologna, and the armor and the final image are transferred to them elsewhere. The guys bombarded me with questions, and I myself swung at the Ducati and flew out of the factory: aha, run away, we will tweet a second time. It's time to enjoy!

Red and soft

The perpetrators banned me from driving on the race track. Damn, that's how I was drawn to her. With the new Ducati star, we are forced to capture local particles. Yeah, what I want: a sparrow in the hand is better than a dove in the roof. As I made him run, the two-cylinder engine underneath me shook with his characteristic voice. Already in the first few meters of driving, I felt that the new 999 was more perfect than its predecessor.

Red beauty gives a feeling of greater softness. Vibration is almost non-existent while driving, Ducati's stiff clutch is just a memory, the gearbox is soft as if I'm cutting through butter, and the sound behind me no longer reminds me of an air hammer compressor. .

The fact that the new Ducati has an abundance of electronics, in front of which, despite the red color, you do not need to blush before the Japanese competition, it also became clear to me as soon as I pressed the start button. As in any science fiction movie, there are many switches on the sides of the analog tachometer. When you click on them, the electronics provide information about the operation of the unit, the trip itself and any malfunctions of the electronic components of the two-wheeled motorcycle. Rich.

The predecessor, more specifically the 998, provided the new Ducati with the heart of the Testastretta two-cylinder engine. Installed in a new mechanical environment, it is upgraded with a new exhaust system and an enlarged air chamber. The exhaust system of a different design is routed under the seat, where instead of the legendary pair of mufflers there is a square one-piece piece with two holes.

At 124 hp the power of the unit is similar to that of the 998, but the engine of the new model is more lively than that of its predecessor. The final speed is five kilometers higher thanks to new technological solutions. As a result, the torque increased from 97 to 104 Nm at 8000 rpm.

The Ducati 999 Monoposto is easy to handle and precise even at lower speeds, and 16 percent (factory claims) stiffer and stronger than its predecessor. The reason also seems to lie in the new steel frame and the new dual rear swingarm. The bike is neutral when riding slowly and I will tell you how it will react at a higher speed when I ride it around Tomb.

I felt at ease on the Monopost, you will also get taller despite being smaller, so the improved ergonomics will feel really solid. New - the seat together with the fuel tank can be moved along the longitudinal axis by as much as six centimeters and thereby adjust the distance from the steering wheel. Racing bikes really offer this setting option, but with the “civilian” I met this for the first time.

The foot pedals can be set to five different positions, the rear suspension is fully adjustable, it even adjusts like the front fork. Everything to adapt to the wishes and needs of the driver. I am also delighted with the brake kit; I suspect that the Italians brought it from another planet - it's so good!

The ability to adapt the motorcycle to the wishes of the owner, a fresh image, first-class equipment and the proven “Testastretta” unit are the main features of the Ducati 999 Monoposto mosaic. For me, the time to play with it was scarce, but I want you to enjoy it for a long time. If you pay 17 euros for it.
