Ducati Monster 600 Dark

Americans say they want to squeeze the last out of anything that generates income. Obviously, this has been repeated at Ducati since it was taken over by the Texas Pacific Group. So many versions with accessories were added to all the hits that the number of models doubled. The Monster Family, in particular, has grown, so it is likely that even its members no longer know how many there are. 600, 750 and 900 cc, in Normal, City and Chrom versions, all together as Dark.

Ducati Monster 600 Dark

Dark 600 is interesting for its brutal appearance, but still the cheapest Ducati. When we take a closer look at it, we realize that the tank's color is not just opaque black, but tiny crystals have been added to it. True Ducati quality, not some cheap beach.

The Dark is technically no different from the already known 600cc version, but after five years of production, some fixes have been made to them. To better adapt the carburetor to low temperatures, the oil line was laid around the floats, but in order not to cause overheating and the formation of air bubbles in summer, a thermostat was added.

Resonances that previously occurred between the half-empty tank and the air filter were eliminated with a layer of foam rubber. At the same time, it prevents the engine from overheating the driver's knees.

The position on the road remained as it was, and rightly so. The short-stroke V2 engine is exactly the same size as it was 20 years ago and is very mature. This is a true example of a soft yet distinctive two-cylinder engine that never gets boring. This is ensured by the loud dry clutch and unmistakable Ducati staccato.

The Monster doesn't have a tachometer as it doesn't even need one because a true ducatist knows this engine does best at midrange. If revs fall too low, there is no crisis, and at the upper limit it still has an outrageously large headroom.

The chassis is tuned for a sporty hard, with a wide steering wheel resting on a slightly offset footrest while the driver sits like a street fighter. What else can be improved? If Ducati has already managed to wrap the hydraulic clutch hose with steel cable, why haven't they done the same with the brake pads? This would make the braking force more accurate. However, they could leave it to the discretion of the user, who should have additional remediation options. Otherwise, they didn't skimp on Monster Dark.
