The company produced the 1.4-liter 16-valve Hyundai G4EE engine from 2005 to 2012 and installed it on such popular models as the Getz, Accent or similar Kia Rio. In addition to the standard modification for 97 hp. it was also offered derated up to 75 hp. version.

In 2005, the line of Alpha gasoline power units was replenished with a 1.4-liter engine, which in fact was a reduced copy of a 1.6-liter internal combustion engine with the G4ED index. The design of this engine is typical for its time: distributed fuel injection, an in-line cast-iron cylinder block, an aluminum 16-valve head with hydraulic lifters and a combined timing drive, consisting of a belt and a small chain between the camshafts.

This is a simple and reliable unit, and the owners on the forums complain only about trifles: mainly about the unstable operation of the internal combustion engine due to contamination of the throttle, IAC or injectors. Also often the cause is cracked ignition coils or high-voltage wires.
The official manual prescribes updating the timing belt every 90 km, but it does not always go so much, and with its breakage, in most cases, the valve bends. The short chain between the camshafts usually stretches by the second belt change.
After 150 km, oil consumption often appears, and when it reaches a liter per 000 km, it is recommended to replace the valve stem seals in the head, most often this helps. Sometimes stuck oil scraper rings are to blame, but they usually have enough decoking.
There are a lot of complaints on the specialized forum about regular grease leaks through the oil seals, short-lived bearings and hydraulic lifters, which often knock even up to 100 km. Also, the internal combustion engine may not start well due to a clogged fuel filter or fuel pump.
