The first cars of this brand appeared in 1999. Initially, they were designed only for the domestic Korean market. Only the second generation was presented in Europe. G4FC

This power unit comes from the Gamma series. It differs from the basic version in a different shape of the crankshaft, as well as a long connecting rod. At the same time, the problems are exactly the same:

• vibration;
• floating revolutions;
• noise of the gas distribution system.

According to the plant, the engine resource is approximately 180 thousand kilometers.

The main advantage of this internal combustion engine is sufficient endurance for long trips. Even if the car is loaded, no problems should arise. Since it is a basic configuration, it is usually installed in cars with minimal additional functionality.

G4KA

It has great endurance. The timing chain quietly walks 180-200 thousand. Usually, the motor requires capital after about 300-350 thousand kilometers. There are no difficulties on the road. For a minivan, a car with this engine shows good dynamics.

Naturally, there are no mechanisms without flaws. Here you need to carefully monitor the oil pressure. Quite often, the oil pump gear is erased. If you do not pay attention to this malfunction, you can get a quick "death" of the camshafts.

Also, sometimes valve lifters may require replacement, but it depends on the specific motor. On one, there are no these problems at all, and on the other they need to be changed every 70-100 thousand km. run.

4EA

Initially, the D4EA diesel engine was developed for crossovers. But, since the development turned out to be of very high quality and reliable in practice, the motor began to be used everywhere. The main advantage is economy. Even with the turbine there are no problems with fuel consumption.

The engine does not cause any particular difficulties during operation. But, when working on low-quality fuel, the high-pressure fuel pump may fail.

In our country, you can most often find Kia Carens, which is equipped with a G4FC engine. There are several reasons. But the main one is low cost. This layout is initially basic, so there are not many additions that increase the price. That is why this version has become the most popular.

Which engine is more reliable

If you decide to purchase a contract motor to replace a failed one, it makes sense to pay attention to reliability. All Kia Carens engines are interchangeable, which greatly simplifies the choice.

If you choose a contract motor, it is better to purchase a G4KA. This engine is the most reliable of the entire line. It is also much easier to find consumables and accessories for it, since this unit is used on many Kia models. They are also often assembled at other factories under contract, which reduces the cost.
