Mazda Tribute is a five-door SUV from the Japanese manufacturer Mazda, which was produced from 2000 to 2011.
This car was first presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show in 2000. The first thing everyone noticed was its similar design to the Ford Explorer, which was completed back in 1996.
Mazda Tribute belongs to the class of compact SUVs and features an individual appearance together with a spacious and comfortable interior.
The development of this SUV was carried out jointly with Ford Motor Company, and the Mazda 626 car platform was taken as its basis. The tribute was equipped with an all-wheel drive system, and was also produced with a front-wheel drive layout.
For reference! Despite the fact that the Mazda Tribute was built on the CD2 platform, its suspension provided a more stable ride than that of the Ford Escape, built on the same platform. So Mazda emphasized that its cars correspond to the sporty style!
First generation Mazda Tribute
The first generation of the Tribute compact crossover was produced from 2000 to 2007. The line of engines included two gasoline power units - YF and AJ V6. The first was a 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 2 liters, and the second had a V-shaped layout with six cylinders and a total volume of 3 liters. The car was produced both with a manual 5-speed gearbox and with an automatic transmission at 4 speeds.
In 2004, the first generation Mazda Tribute was restyled, after which the car acquired a more sporty look. In addition, it has become more powerful, because a completely new 3-liter L2,3-VE engine has appeared.
For reference! Mazda Japan from 2004 to 2005 produced a limited model "Mazdaspeed Tribute", which was equipped with the same 3-liter L2,3-VE engine, only already paired with a turbocharger. This made it possible to achieve a fantastic power of 220 hp at that time. for this type of engine!

Mazda Tribute second generation
The second generation of this car is mainly characterized by changes in the interior and exterior. The tribute is more textured due to the widening of the wheel arches, changes to the front fenders, hood, taillights, bumpers and the like. In addition, all engines have undergone refinement, which has led to an increase in their power performance.

Engine selection in the Mazda Tribute
The only thing you should pay attention to when choosing an engine on this car is your own preferences. All engines installed on the Tribute are distinguished by their reliability and maintainability, therefore, for a driver with a calm driving style, it is recommended to choose a 2-liter internal combustion engine on the first generation and 2,3 liters on the second.
However, it should be understood that the smaller the engine size, the lower its service life. The golden mean between good dynamics and acceptable fuel consumption is an engine with a volume of 2,3 and 2,5 liters. They are the most widely used in our country, along with the AJ-V6.
