This is said to allow them to transmit higher torque to the clasp while reducing wear on the key and the inside of the clasp head.The squarer shape and tighter tolerances of the Torx Plus design increase the contact area between the Torx Plus driver and fastener compared to a standard Torx screwdriver and fastener. Because stress is force divided by area, more force can be transmitted and internal stresses are reduced, reducing wear on both the Torx Plus screwdriver and the fastener head.Torx Plus wrenches are also called internal plus wrenches and this is where the commonly used IP size designation comes from. Although the points of the star have the same individual shape as the points of Torx Plus, there are only five points on the star of Torx Plus tamper-resistant keys and fasteners. Just like the security Torx, the tamper-resistant Torx Plus has a pin in the center of the clasp head recess that fits into a hole in the center of the tamper-proof Torx Plus key.The combination of the five-pointed star shape and center pin design provides increased security as the fastener is extremely difficult to remove without the correct Torx Plus tamper-proof wrench. Torx Plus tamper-resistant keys and clasps are available only to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and authorized service personnel, enhancing the security that comes with their use.There is no official designation for tamper-proof Torx Plus wrenches, although some sets are sold with the initial designation TS or IPR followed by the size.
