"Can one car satisfy countless needs?" With this question, Hyundai begins the presentation of the ix20 model on the official website of the manufacturer. Moreover, the ix20 is said to be an affirmative answer to the question above. You are sure? Is the Korean novelty as interesting as Seoul marketers are trying to convince us?


A crossover, and the ix20 boasts the name of such a car, is by definition a multifunctional vehicle, i.e. for everything. When I hear that a machine is for everything, I am immediately reminded of the old universal truth, according to which "what is for everything sucks." Does this apply to the Hyundai ix20 as well?


Absolutely not. Undoubtedly, the car is attractive: a beautiful and compact silhouette, a predatory front apron with an interestingly designed hexagonal air intake, headlights that reach almost to the base of the windshield, and aggressive ribs on the hood and sides make the car not only capable, but should be liked. Fluidic Sculpture, the philosophy of "fluid sculpture", in accordance with which the new designs of the Korean brand are created, it is impossible to refuse a skillful combination of contradictions: softness and aggressiveness, dynamism and stability, spaciousness and compactness.


The 410 cm car offers ample space in the cabin. This is largely due to growth (160 cm). There is plenty of room above the heads of travelers, so you can feel the “pleasant slack”. The front seats, although poorly shaped, are very comfortable and provide a pleasant position behind an interesting-looking steering wheel. The high driving position means that we have the opportunity to look "on everything from above" - ​​in the case of a car of this type, this is by no means an insult. The rear is also not claustrophobic - yes, there may be a little lack of legroom, but do not expect miracles from a slightly overgrown city car in which the axles are 261 cm apart. On the other hand, the trunk should satisfy the most demanding buyers - 440 l - a result that should silence the disgruntled in this class.


The interior is not only interestingly designed, but also well thought out in terms of ergonomics and ease of operation - all buttons and knobs are within reach and beautifully described. Encased in stylish, angular tubes facing the air intake, the clock looks great and is highly legible. Everything is fine, but there is one “but”. Well, the furious blue backlighting of the displays should be immediately changed to something more sophisticated.


Under the hood can be one of three power units: two petrol and one diesel in two power options. The weakest gasoline engine with a volume of 1.4 liters and a power of 90 hp. is the minimum option - it provides sufficient performance, but you can not count on the race under the headlights. Version 1.6 with 125 hp will satisfy even more demanding customers - less than 11 seconds to a hundred and more than 180 km / h are satisfactory indicators for a car of this class. Theoretically, a more powerful version requires less than 0.5 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers.


In the section for economical, one drive is provided, but in two power options. Version 1.4 CRDi with 77 hp - an option for the patient - almost 16 seconds to a hundred and only 160 km / h - values ​​\u90b\u167bthat only high-speed antimatics will suit. A more powerful version of the same engine is stronger only in words: a 4.5 hp diesel engine. is also very efficient - it accelerates just a second faster and can reach a top speed of XNUMX km/h. That's not a lot. As a consolation, it is worth mentioning the diesel fuel consumption - an average of XNUMX liters for both engines - these are values ​​that improve mood in the face of another crisis in the oil industry.


How much does this pleasure cost? Minimum 44 zlotys for the Classic version with a 900-liter gasoline engine, the cheapest diesel in the offer costs more than 1.4 zlotys. zl. The price list is completed by the richly equipped Premium versions, for which you will have to pay from 50 68 zlotys (400 l CVVT, 1.4 km) to 90 zlotys.


In general, the ix20 is a great and improved car, but ... As usual, there is one “but”. In this case, one “but”, then that for less than 40 thousand. PLN, you can own an almost identical car, only with the … Kia logo on the hood. Therefore, before you buy a Hyundai, visit the Kii dealership.
