Many of us remember the old days, when practically in every yard there were unusable cars - old “penny” or hunchbacked Zaporozhets.

There was no recycling program as such, and the owner of such a vehicle had a simple choice: either leave the car quietly to rot in the yard, or sell it for spare parts, or take it for scrap metal for its own money.

The situation changed after the widespread introduction of the transport tax: whether your car is running or not, the state does not care, the main thing is that the owner pays the tax. That is why people tend to get rid of their used vehicles as soon as possible.

There are also situations when the car is sold by power of attorney, the new owner has disappeared somewhere, but fines and taxes have to be paid by the person in whose name the car is registered.

The only solution in this case is to deregister the machine with subsequent disposal.

Program for the recycling of old cars in Russia

In 2010, a recycling program began to be introduced everywhere. Ideally, it allowed not only to get rid of the car, but also to get a discount on the purchase of a new one. The vehicle owner had two options:

take the car to one of the companies involved in the processing of old cars, and there get a certificate for a 50 thousand rubles discount at any car dealership;
transfer the car to the dealer's salon and immediately get a discount of 40-50 thousand on the purchase of a car in the same salon on the spot.

However, this program has been discontinued since 2012. The mechanism for scrapping a car has not changed:

we go to the traffic police and write a statement about the desire to hand over the car;
the car is removed from registration and restrictions begin to apply to it;
call the company that accepts cars, they will either come to pick up the car themselves, or you yourself will need to take it there;
if the state duty is not paid - 3 thousand for cars that are owned by private individuals - pay it;
the vehicle is sent for recycling.

It is worth noting that not all companies require payment of these duties, since they are already making good money on your used cars - spare parts, non-ferrous metals, glass - there are buyers for all this.

It is clear that many did not like such a system, it was cheaper to simply remove the car from registration and leave it to rot somewhere, or hand it over for scrap metal on your own, and sell everything of value.

Recycling program since September 2014

A new recycling program with benefits for owners of old cars was planned to be launched from September 2014, XNUMX. However, not everything went so smoothly, because the government did not want to put up with the thesis that the discounts received under the recycling program should be equally available for the purchase of domestically assembled cars and foreign cars. In this case, it turns out that public funds will be directed to support a foreign manufacturer.

The Vodi.su team has nothing against the domestic auto industry, and understands that it’s hard to disagree with the logic of the government - why spend 350 thousand on a new NIVA 4x4, if you report another 50 thousand, and take the missing 100 thousand on credit, you can buy a Renault Duster or the same Chevrolet-NIVA.

Therefore, the government acted more cunningly - they provided the opportunity to receive discounts only on domestically produced cars or those that were assembled in Russia.

Well, dealers of European or Japanese manufacturers were allowed to independently come up with their own programs to attract customers.

The process of scrapping a car has not changed, only now you can receive a discount certificate for it - from 50 to 350 thousand (for trucks). You can spend these funds only in the salons of a domestic manufacturer. If you want to get a discount on a Mercedes or Toyota, then you need to contact the dealer directly and find out what programs they have.

For example, a Toyota Camry assembled in St. Petersburg participates in the program - 50 discounts on a recycling certificate, or 40 if you rent it directly in the salon.

Who gets the discount and how to use the recycling program?

Many people, when they heard that the recycling program was working again, immediately began to ask questions like:

Is it possible to rent two cars and get a double discount?
my car is rotting in the village, registered to my grandfather - can I get a discount?

The answers can be found in the conditions of the program, each salon also focuses on this:

one car - one discount;
the car must be complete, that is, with an engine, battery, seats, standard electrics, and so on - half-decayed cars, from which everyone got what they can, do not give the right to receive a discount;
The car must have been registered in your name for at least 6 months.

If your used car meets all these criteria, then you can safely take it under the recycling program directly in the salon, or use the recycling certificate and get your discount. These programs are valid only until the end of 2014, so it's better to hurry.
