During the operation of the car, the paintwork suffers the most - small chips and cracks, dents, rust - all this does not look very attractive. In addition, the paintwork protects the metal of the body from even more corrosion, so measures should be taken urgently, otherwise you will have to pay even more later.

You have to repaint either the entire car, or carry out local painting. In addition, there is a whole category of people who, over time, get bored with the native color of their car, and they also want to do a complete repaint.

The Vodi.su team became interested in this issue, and decided to find out how much it would cost to completely paint a car, including changing the color.

What is the car painting process?

It must be said right away that even painting one wing or hood is a complex process, including many different procedures:

• getting rid of the old paintwork;
• repair of minor damage;
• sanding and surface preparation;
• primer, paint selection;
• applying paint in several layers;
• drying and varnishing.

Calling various services, we did not hear any specific price, some masters said that full painting would cost the amount from one and a half thousand dollars, the official service centers announced the amounts from three thousand.

True, there were proposals to make everything much cheaper - people with a Caucasian accent said: “Come, brother, we will make the car like new !!!”

Even if it was about one element of the body - a bumper, a door, a trunk - then no one voiced a single price. The painters made the following arguments:

• the area of ​​the painted surface;
• the nature of the damage;
• paint composition - one-, two-, three-component;
• how the painting will be carried out - with or without complete disassembly.

But even in this case the prices are below $100. we have not met.

It is worth noting that $ 100 is the lowest cost, the craftsmen told us how much good primers and varnishes cost today, how much it costs to choose a color and get rid of minor damage.

For example, for painting a door in one of the Moscow workshops, they asked for at least 250 euros - you can imagine how much a full painting would cost, for one paint and varnish materials you would have to pay about one and a half thousand euros, add here more work, disassembly / assembly, drying - the amount would come out no lower than 4000 euros.

Many car enthusiasts, who at one time were tired of the “native” color of their cars, said that for this money they could buy a new car.

And of course, the model of the car is of great importance. Agree that spending even $ 1000 on painting some Lada or Niva is not a very rewarding business. In just two or three years, or even less, rust may begin to appear again. The editors of Vodi.su were convinced of this more than once. Whereas the owners of expensive foreign cars do not spare any money for servicing their cars, and they choose the most expensive paint - mother-of-pearl or chameleon under varnish.

Approximate prices for car painting in Moscow

We decided to look at the prices for painting cars in Moscow. In our case, it was a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer in Cool Silver. The car was not in the garage, there is a dent on the passenger front door and the left fender, the state of the paintwork leaves much to be desired, you can limit yourself to local repairs or a complete repaint.

The questions were:

• how much will it cost to get rid of all the damage and paint these places;
• how much will it cost to completely paint the car while maintaining the native color;
• how much will it cost to repaint in a new color, for example champagne beige.

We decided to choose only from more or less serious firms that have their own websites on the Internet, cameras for painting and a complete set of equipment.

Here's what we've learned.

Straightening dents without painting in Moscow costs on average from 500 rubles. If this option does not suit you, then the prices will be much higher:

• door straightening with removal and painting - from 5 thousand rubles;
• wing repair with removal and painting - from 4500 rubles.

In addition, the processing of all minor scratches on the front and rear bumpers would have pulled another 4-5 thousand. That is, a simple body repair in our case would cost about 15 thousand rubles. This is with the selection of paint and warranty.

Well, for a complete repainting with color retention and straightening, you would have to pay from 60 to 100 thousand rubles. It should be noted here that various painting options were offered:

• budget category;
• middle category;
• Premium class.

Budget painting costs from 45 thousand, it is carried out without disassembly, only metal elements are painted. However, materials from well-known manufacturers are used, and the work itself is carried out in a special chamber. The finished car can be picked up in 3-5 days.

A more expensive type of painting includes a complete disassembly of the car, everything is painted, even the engine compartment and trunk, the inner surface of the doors. The color that was before is completely painted over.

With such a complete repainting in a different color, you must also contact the traffic police in a timely manner so that a new color of the car is entered in the PTS. In no case should you remove or repaint the VIN nameplates, and if they are stamped directly on the body, then these areas must be left unpainted so that the inspector can check the color and body number.

When changes are made to the TCP, you need to contact the insurance company to obtain a new OSAGO and CASCO policy. Take money from the insurance company for changing the data in the policy should not, and a small fee is paid in the traffic police.

It is also worth contacting the traffic police if you partially repaint your car.

Conclusions

After comparing all available options, we decided to limit ourselves to local repair and painting of damaged areas, which resulted in 14 thousand rubles. We picked up the car three days later and it really looked like new. Separately, you can order polishing and preparing the body for winter.
